Burned clutch >_>RevvRX-7 05-23-2004, 11:13 AM Jee that smell. Definately the burn of the clutch. My sis was trying to take off in 3rd gear but I guess she thought she had it in 1st :\ How embarresing to come out in the middle of an intersection slowly with sky rocketing rpms. It seemed like the gear was shifted into 1st, but I guess not.. Anyways..smell of the clutch :( um, should I have it replaced or is it still good..? Its a 1986 n/a RX-7 btw MBTN 05-23-2004, 12:29 PM Just drive it again normally. As long as it's not slipping it should be fine. I smoked mine BAD twice when learning (hilly areas). J-Rat 05-23-2004, 03:51 PM Shoot, I smoke my clutch everytime I race! Soyo 05-23-2004, 06:12 PM smoking the clutch happens all the time, mine does it everytime I drive it when its cold, a normal shift from 1st to 2nd at 3k rpms slips the clutch way up high just cuz its not warm yet modelman 07-03-2004, 12:28 AM 1: how do u no when the clutch is slipping 2: Does the burning clutch smell like burning rubber? any help would be much appreciated RevvRX-7 07-03-2004, 12:46 AM Is it healthy to launch many times at say maybe 5rpms or so with my 86 n/a? I sometimes smell the clutch..thats normal, right? MBTN 07-03-2004, 03:04 AM Healthy? Well launching is fun ;) but the tranny won't like it. Sometimes smell the clutch? Nobody's perfect, so you might get it smoking a few times. As for modelman's question: you will know when you smoked your clutch based on a smell ;) When I was learning stick I was on a hill and there was a guy behind me. I got so nervous I revved the shit out of it with barely any clutch. 6k RPM's in 1st and going about 5mph. Yeah, it smelled bad... at least it was a lexus behind me :D vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
