FS: 1993 Mazda RX-7 red/base in Metro Boston areaf2racer 05-21-2004, 10:50 PM I hate to do, this, but I'm putting my third gen up for sale. Wife says I can get a bike, but the sports car's gotta go. Overall the car is in very good condition. Car runs awesome! It's got 102k miles, of which I put 20k (I bought the car with around 82k miles) in the 3 or so years I've owned it. Prior owner was also a rotary enthusiast and took very good car of the car as well. 10-8-10 psi boost from the twin sequential turbos. Amazing throttle response. Compression is good, between 16-20Hg of vacuum at idle. In terms of maintenance, the car has had it's coolant changed every year since I've had it. I've changed the oil/filter every 2k with Castrol GTX (10W30 or 10W40). I did the spark plugs wires (Taylor-Vertex Spiro-Pro) in 2001. Both the trans and diff have Red Line synthetic in them. Porterfield brake pads (hard to keep the wheels clean but have amazing bite) and ATE Super Blue in the brake lines. Replaced the O2 sensor in 2002. I put in a bottle of the Red Line FI cleaner through the car every year. Fuel filter changed at 97,000 miles. KDR did a complete check of the car in 2001. In terms of reliability mods, the car has a stainless steel DP, Aluminum AST, boost gauge, water temp gauge, A/F meter gauge (all gauges are AutoMeter), HKS turbo timer, Racing Beat intake duct, K&N air filter, and manual fan mod. Got Speedbleeders on all 4 brakes (as well as one for the clutch which I didn't install). I also replaced the exhaust for a near new stock one in 2001. The car also has a Cusco front strut tower brace (I also have the matching rear one, which I didn't install because it necessitates the rear strut covers to be removed), and Sony CD/MP3 head unit and 10 disc changer. Have some spare parts, 2 car covers, and the official Mazda workshop manual. Located just outside of Boston. Asking $13,000, e-mail me at f2racer@covad.net Thanks! f2racer 05-22-2004, 12:56 PM BTW, here are some pics of my car... Thanks! ac427cpe 06-23-2004, 08:26 AM is it on it's first engine? with or without rebuild? f2racer 06-23-2004, 03:26 PM is it on it's first engine? with or without rebuild? Original engine, but don't assume this is a bad thing, the car runs GREAT. Both myself and the original owner took extremely good care of the car. Oil/filter has been changed religiously every 2k miles, coolant has been flushed/changed every year, fuel filter changed every 15k miles, etc. The car had a complete checkup at KDR prior to me buying it in June 2001 and it passed with flying colors. Because it's got an aftermarket water temp gauge and manual fan mod, the engine has never seen coolant over 210C (much less the 230+C that cars without the manual fan mod see since the fans don't turn on until after 230C). The car runs as well if not better than the day I bought it. Soyo 06-23-2004, 03:43 PM well thats cool that you took care of it and all... but its a FD... I'll put 20 bucks on it needing a rebuild before 120k(and thats if you get lucky) f2racer 06-23-2004, 05:01 PM well thats cool that you took care of it and all... but its a FD... I'll put 20 bucks on it needing a rebuild before 120k(and thats if you get lucky) Soyo, what do they say, opinions are like...;) I have a good friend with an FD that has 150k on it's original engine, which still runs well. And his has not lead an easy life, he brings it to tracks days every chance that he gets and wrings the living cr*p outta it when he's there. In all honesty, FD's have a bad rap due to the poor diagnostic skills of Mazduh mechanics, owners that abuse them, and folks that don't keep up with maintenance. Luckily I've never taken my car to a dealer for service (it's been to KDR, a local speed shop which is pretty good with rotaries, and Apex Auto) and I've kept up with all the regular maintenance personally. Not saying that it may not need a rebuild sometime in the future (hell my first FD needed a rebuild at 62k), but it runs great and shows no signs of needing a rebuild. I bought the car 3 years ago, and had reservations due to the high mileage back then. I was very lucky to get a car that's given me near zero issues in the time that I've owned it. That being said, I think the price is fair... vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
