bmw 325 - sudden rear wheel lockonimabee 05-19-2004, 02:51 AM I just got off a freeway exit and heard a loud bang then my car skidded to a stop. I thought the bang sound was my tire blowing. However, the car would not drive and I discovered my left rear tire was locked. This hasn't happened before. Has that happened to anyone and what could cause it? I just had the car serviced today - so I'm a bit suspicious. Help. ec437 05-19-2004, 03:19 AM what year is it? 323imankiks 05-19-2004, 12:52 PM possibley brake caliper has froze, or brake components loose, :2cents: axle maybe. I have never heard of that happening. mechy1barry 05-19-2004, 02:47 PM either brake defect or siezed wheel bearing,my moneys on the bearing! ironman502 05-20-2004, 02:53 PM I've had old brake shoes separate and jam up the wheel, but that's only if you have rear drum brakes. If you just had them replaced, either someone forgot to put in a few springs or maybe the bearing fell apart. I think you would have early warning of a bad bearing, though, unless the shop forgot to grease it. I'd probably take the car somewhere else and have them look over it (actually I'd do it myself), but it's your choice. I kind of doubt a bearing could lock with enough force to stop your wheel on the highway, too. :2cents: jeffreyb4me 05-24-2004, 09:52 PM sounds like a broke e-brake shoe jammed the brake disc. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
