MB again, but this time is a S class.I want to make it becoming a massive sport coupe with V12 enigine if possible(from CLK GTR tamiya).

This is a Italeri S600,same kit with Revell and Protar.Overall is poor and with lots of fitting problems, especially the head is really unrealistic.
As my 'CLR' was fail few months ago,I decided to put the original idea on a S class, which is more easy to modify to the shape I want.
The concept car was start.I planed that the whole car will be completely modified, including the roof, the tail, the body lines,panels.......etc.

Now let's begin with the head.It was lengthened and lowered plus a little bit SLR and AMG style. The headlights were new design and I gave up the idea of 4 circle lights in order to make it different from the MB nowadays.I 'm not sure if you will like it,anyway, fedbacks are welcomed as usual. :iceslolan

I cut the roof and install two semi-circle bones to support the new roof.Later I will show you.

Today 's updated:
Here is the planning pic of what I am going to do later.
I will try to create a cruve line like CLS and change it to be 2 doors instead of 4.It sounds simple ,in fact, it doesn't.I hope I will be success.

I think you should leave it as a 4dr but make it a stealth 4dr. Like how some of the new trucks have the extra door that can open but only after you open the main door. Maybe have it suicide style as well.

Thank you very much Jay!
You have given me a lot of inspirations about the design of the doors.
It sounds like Mazda RX8 which has a similar design .

Jarrod Li
05-18-2004, 10:18 AM
Exactly like the rx8 or the saturn coupe. Might be cool if you are going to lambo the front doors to do the same to the rear but in suicide style. For realism and ease of use if it were full size, you'd have to wing the doors out somewhat though, like at a 45 degree angle.

Progress pix today. The inital shape has come out.

The car no longer looks long and massive if I turn it to be 2 door.In fact it has already exceeded 22cm. :icon16: :icon16:
Yes,I love long cars so much~

Yeah! July promises to be a very good month!

Will you work on the front wings shape? I ask you that because I find the front wing lines look a little flat compared to the curve that starts with the windscreen pillar and ends at the rear... Having just 1 curve from front to rear would be more mercedes looking, I feel...
But it may be just an impression, and I may be wrong... The whole thing is completely amazing! Awesome work!

You are really an expert!! :iceslolan :iceslolan :iceslolan
Yes I know,I have tried to make 1 cruve from the front to rear at the beginning ,but the effect was not so good. The only excuse I can say is that.......It is based on a S class^_^. Therefore the design faced a bit limitations. And now I don't have skills to make a model car starting with plastic sheets. :grinno:
Anyway, I think the same as you, it would be better if I can make it. :iceslolan Thx !!

This time,I spray on putty and test for the effect of the modifications, and its effect is quite encouraging :evillol:

Other than that, wheels ,rear aero diffusion and chassic are put on. But don't think that it is an original S-class chassic, it was a ______ chassic~hehe~I won't tell you :icon16: :icon16: :icon16:

Rims are from CLK DTM. I'm sure it is the most suitable rim set for this car.

Thats just my 2 cents tho otherwise it looks great, i admire your craftsmenship.

hello friends, I miss you guys so much!
This is now 2005.The project has been last for nearly a year!
The reason is that I have a critical exam this year,so I don't have time to continue the progress.
But now the exam has passed,it's the time to make model!

I have started to modify the rear, and to think the way to make the headlamp, especially the glass.
The rims are from Aoshima, what do you think about it? Is it better than the DTM rims?Let me know. :smokin:

God that would be a long ass car, about a foot or so ahead of the car and it's based off an S class right? They are 203.3 in long. So add another 12 to 18in damin.

The car is 22.5 cm long. :icon16: :icon16:

I believe MB has simular version out. I read somewhere on other forum and also saw spy photos of it. Your rear and some on front look exact like that concept.

Very nice job. Hope to see it finished soon.

PS
Good luck on the exam. Study well. :D

Thank a lot DJPaul!!
These are all important reference photos for me,especailly the design of the trunk.
I may consider to change the design of the trunk if possible,to make it more close to the new S-class. :iceslolan :iceslolan :iceslolan

I saw the new S class driving down mill avenue yesterday, no lie, un camoed to, too bad I didn't have my camera. No badges, all in white, didn't know what it was, but now that I see the pics of the camoed one I'm absolutley posotive it was the new S. Must have been undergoing warm weather testing. :sunglasse

Hi guys,Paint job was started!
I choose silver, because it is ''the colour of Mercedes''.
I use Tamiya gross Aluvinium.
The effect was ok,but not very good.
I am sure other brand like Gunze or Testor will give me some better choices.
Anyway, I can't wait to paint it,otherwise no one will remember this project anymore.^^

Another thorny problem is the window.Yes, it is far more difficult to make it well than I can imagine. You can see there are still lots of fitting problems. Thw window fails to match perfectly with the body. Anyone can give me some tips to make it a bit better??

God,I have to finish this project before July, in order to join a model contest. !!!

I thought this was rather ugly under primer, but the paint really brings out the sexy-ness in the car. Silver was a perfect color choice!

Hmm, this would be a little difficult, and too late to do, but, try bondo, and form it to fit the window. But you already painted. So it's a little too late for that.. but that is what I would probably do..

hey guys, the project should come to an end.
The progress was so long .
It can be boring when you are facing the same project all the time(for 1 year....).
I have already tried my best on it, but it still have many unexpected minor problems.
The worst thing I did was the paint job.It looks ok in photos ,but when you see the real car, you can find lots of weakness on the painting.
Hopefully,i can get it finished.
now,it is 95% finished.
Here are some final progress pix to share with you.
hope you guys like it.

i agree with 67 shelbymustang.... this is sooo good that if you took pictures and send it to Mercedes Benz they probably will base one of their future cars on this. The front looks so kooooool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and the so does the rest of the car. i think one day mercedes will bring out a car like this. BTW it looks like the Benz Mclaren. Good Work!!!!!:bigthumb:
