Hyundai Class Action Lawsuit

Anyone else get a letter in the mail stating that their Tiburon is included in a class action lawsuit against Hyundai. The lawsuit claims Hyundai overstated their HP ratings by 2.5% up to 7% depending on the year and make of your Hyundai. My 2001 Tiburon was overstated by 2.5% according to the lawsuit. Anyway, I am entitled to a $50 debit card or a $120 dealer card. I think the lawsuit is a bit frivolous and I kind of feel bad for Hyundai getting hammered with this after all the work they have done to try and improve the image of their company. I still think the Tiburon is an excellent sports car especially after reading that Motor Trend article on the 2003. I wish I had the newer model now, with the V6. Shit, that race Tiburon is only make 60 more HP than the factory one. You could probably get your Tiburon up to the specs of that race Tiburon for under $5000. Still a lot cheaper than a Corvette ZO6, which got spanked by the Tiburon in lap times. I am just so tired of ignorant people who drive Japanese cars claiming the Tiburon is a piece of shit. If I slapped a Honda or Toyota symbol on it, they would all be rushing to buy one. I think I am going to get the V6 model as soon as I can afford to and maybe throw a twin turbo setup on it.

I haven't gotten one yet, but I wonder if the 2000 model Tib is included in this accusatioin? I just took my Tib up to a Hyundai dealer today and had about 4 things fixed/looked at. My car is still under warranty per the dealership! I have until 60,000 miles and I only have 57,000 on it! So, I'm getting my warranty's worth and having a few things fixed. They even gave me a loaner car at no extra charge. The only complaint I have with this car is that it doesn't have cruise control, but oh well! It is a stinkin' 2004 Hyundai Elantra. Nice ride, drives real well on curves and handles smooth! Gotta love the new car smell, too! :iceslolan

DAMN!!!! a 2004 elantra with 57,000 miles already? what do you do, drive cross country every week? Ive had my car for almost a year and only put 8,000 miles on it. And no, I havent gotten any letter in the mail from Hyundai yet. Does this include the 03 Tib GT?

Street Shark> My Tib has 57,000 miles on it...not the Elantra! :sly: I am getting some problems taken care of on my Tib BEFORE it reaches 60,000 miles on it. Sorry for the misunderstanding

It includes 1997-2001 Tibs, and the 2003 4cyl and V6. It looks like 2002 got left out some how.

I wonder if the letter goes out to the original owners?? I am the 3rd ownder of my Tib. Some lawyer had it, but didnt like it. Then some rental car company got ahold of it and had it for a while, and now I have it. :uhoh:

They did make them in 02 but called them an 03, just cause it was late in the 2002 model year and wanted to hype it as a 2003 model.

I WORK FOR A LAW FIRM IN CANADA AND WOULD BE VERY INTERESTED IN CHATTING WITH A CANADIAN OWNER OF A HYUNDAI VEHICLE ABOUT THE OVERSTATEMENT OF HORSEPOWER. SEEING AS THE CANADIAN GOVERNMENT DISCOVERED THE OVERSTATEMENT, WE THINK IT'S ONLY FAIR THAT CANADIAN OWNERS ALSO BE COMPENSATED FOR THE OVERSTATEMENT.

YOU CAN EMAIL ME AT DIMITRI001@ROGERS.COM.

try not to be to optimistic when you go against them though, because that's going to make the rejection that much harder.

If you are serious and not a troll or want to be considered as one, start another thread (don't bring up old ones like this one, that are older than 3 months) and explain to us why you think the Tib is a death trap and what type of repairs you have gone through and the problems you are having. We might be able to help out or at the very least guide you to another place that might have more answers, but by coming in here right off the bat and complaining about it without giving specifics makes you look like a classic troll. And trolls and me don't mixed.

TS out

edit: Thanks for confirming via pm that you are indeed a troll. See ya in bansville.
