i have just recieved a call from a friend who lives in harrow, london who just saw a grey f1 on the road, he didnt follow it or get the reg but does know his stuff so he wouldnt have mis identified the car. Can anyone help narrow down any owners of grey colloured cars registered in the uk to help identify the car. He will be keeping an eye out for the car now so needless to say i'll keep you posted.

Find out if it had a wing like the LMs or GTRs, or if it was just a standard road car as that would help to narrow it down. Also, was it silver or grey? There's actually a few possibilities I have in mind and I'm sure we're not aware of all of them.

Sounds like it could be this car then:

Quoting a previous thread: "This car is owned by Paul Stewart - Jackie Stewart's son and was formerly owned by Liam Howlett of Proidigy fame."

Or possibly this one as well:

We don't have any real info on the second car, but I'm wondering if there's a small chance it could actually be the same car wearing different plate seeing as how that photo was taken at the Monaco Grand Prix in 2003. Sir Jackie is still highly involved in Formula One and it wouldn't surprise me if his son is involved or was simply attending the race as well.

Hello,

you don't find any coincidence with Paragon inauguration this week ? :)

It could be Mika but he doesn't have the HDF kit. So, I dream to see another at Monaco GP !!!!

Is the wing higher on the car in pic #1?
Also the wheel offset looks different on the rear between both cars.

That's all I could muster for differences.

i think your right about the wing, they have different wheels too.

All true points about the wheels - good eyes guys.

I think the wing might just appear slightly higher due to the pitched up rear end of the car under braking.

You can see the other photos of the 'M99 PES' plated car in this old post by chernobyl (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=1353016&postcount=29).

does anyone know if the colour of the car in the pic is carbon or is carbon darker than that?

Carbon the color, as related to the F1s McLaren built, was nearly black - so it wouldn't be carbon.

do you know if there is much of a difference between magniasium silver and mercedes brilliant silver. more to the point could magniesium silver be described as more grey than silver.

That's always been our thinking. The MBZ Brilliant Silver is exactly how it sounds - very bright and shiny. Unfortunately, there is also "Special Silver" and "Base Silver" on the chassis list making it difficult to know what any silver car could actually be. :grinno:

base silver is the dullest silver. magnesium silver is darker than mercedes brilliant silver and special silver is in between base and magnesium

And in photos taken under different lighting, with different exposure values and with different cameras can make each one look quite different. ;)

So, back to my original statement, that it can be hard to distinguish one from the other.

its not that hard to destinguish magnesium silver from the others, but between the others it is hard

i sent my friend the pic of M99 PES and he said it was probably a bit darker than that so what colour is M99 PES and is there a darker shade?
does anyone know the chasis number on that car?

Pretty sure Mercedes Brilliant silver is the same silver used on the 97 West McLaren (GP car). The colour may have been tweaked since
