Fyi....longeltigre 05-14-2004, 02:10 AM Just wanted to share a couple of things with all of you about what I did to my 96 Nautica: I was having a problem of occassional overheating and squealing of belts ....we had NUMEROUS times purged the system of air and at one point had to replace the upper radiator hose due to it rupturing...It actually only overheated when my wife was driving...lol..... WELL, anyways, Here I am checking the system AGAIN and for some reason I decided to look at the bypass hose ( C shaped hose at other connection behind the upper radiator hose) on top and LO and BEHOLD , it had a VERY small pinhole at the top of the hose that was leaking ever so slightly, I squeezed the hose and I probably could have poked a hole in it myself by it being so darn soft and collapsable at both ends; GEE I wonder why it overheats?? This was leaking and letting air into the line.... The hose ended up being crudded up...well, I get a new bypass hose from Nissan, and the counter guy tells me that they sell a lot of those hoses for their Maxima because they fail a lot...Well, guess what engine they have in the maxima, Yep the same as in the villager.... As for my belt squealing, where do you think the bottom part of the bypass hose is located....RIGHT ABOVE the Serpetine belt and dripping antifreeze on it hence the squealing..... vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
