Finished: Volvo 850 BTCC Saloon675datsun 05-13-2004, 09:15 PM Tamiya 1/24 kit. I finished it ~2 years ago. I want to go back and panel line it. Let me pose a question first...If a panel line on a 1/24 car is at a MINIMUM of 1mm in width, does this mean a 1/1 panel line is 24mm, or almost 1" wide???? That's a fat gap on a real door panel. Anyway check out the Volvo! http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/133284142833858cFYjun_ph.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/133284142833772evFlKR_ph.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/133284142834698qlUpXl_ph.jpg yeah, yeah it's vaseline http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/133284142834601YbkCaw_ph.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/133284142834484PqXMlR_ph.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/133284142834389KjoQuo_ph.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/133284142834175YWELIy_ph.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/133284142834115BAACMX_ph.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/133284142834800dYXPag_ph.jpg 300zx seat http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/133284142834875CNsICB_ph.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/133284142835017LHufKW_ph.jpg IImportSupra 05-13-2004, 09:21 PM Very nice, I love the ride height, Was this a Touring Car? Howielong 05-13-2004, 09:47 PM Damn a Volvo looking good it can't be. Yours is great looking. 935k3 05-13-2004, 11:18 PM Very nice, I love the ride height, Was this a Touring Car? It raced in the BTCC(British Touring Car Championship). They also raced an Estate wagon which Tamiya also did. youngdrifter_x 05-13-2004, 11:22 PM hahah. looks like my dads back up car!! i didnt know it could ever looks so nice!! good job man yellow15 05-14-2004, 12:49 AM Let me pose a question first...If a panel line on a 1/24 car is at a MINIMUM of 1mm in width, does this mean a 1/1 panel line is 24mm, or almost 1" wide???? That's a fat gap on a real door panel. Anyway check out the Volvo! Yes maybe that's the reason why panel lines are SO hard to do on a 1/24 car. it's either too dark/thick or you can't see it at all. Good build btw! BRM 05-14-2004, 12:57 AM Very nice. Love the BTC or any touring car championship races. stisnan 05-14-2004, 01:02 AM Looks good but what do i see in the backround of the third pic? mike united 05-14-2004, 03:31 AM Looks good but what do i see in the backround of the third pic? Later, Mike. :smokin: Pug 05-14-2004, 06:24 AM what color have you used? tempeted to use it on my golf thanks slk320 05-14-2004, 10:50 AM I think its excellent! Great detailing on the wheel/brake hub, excellent smooth paint and the color is outstanding. I especially like the detailing of the rear light cluster. That must have been very difficult masking job ;) Forhod 05-14-2004, 11:49 AM This is so clean and beautiful! 675datsun 05-14-2004, 01:51 PM Glad you like the 850! Pug- The color is Tamiya TS-23 Light Blue I think. IImportSupra-This the Tamiya BTCC race car kit, so it came with that ride height. I did not cover it with the race livery. I'll post the Estate version(red) tonight! SLK230-Thanks! I think I cheated on the rear light cluster as I beleive the center section is supposed to be body color. Oh well th eblack looks kind of cool. Stisnan/Mike-Ahh the third pic...I try to limit it's use for making those Tamiya wheels spin freely in the brake rotor...uhhh yeah that's what's mostly for  pre98zetec 05-14-2004, 06:00 PM Man, That is SWEET! tonioseven 05-14-2004, 09:27 PM Super-clean!!!:sunglasse 86_SR5 05-14-2004, 10:16 PM looks great, nice vibrant color, wiked stance, something that would look deadly with proper tuning as a road car. max88q 05-14-2004, 10:29 PM Very nice. I have a btcc kit that is not even touched yet. Ive had it for awhile and It may be the next kit Im going to do. I want to paint it the Volvo Amethyst color that came on the 850's. My mom had one that color. I also want the color of the wheels to be the same as the dark colored 17 inch 850 R's. My mom almost traded her 850 GLT for a black 850 R when it first came out. Ive always been fond of Volvo's, of course, we've owned them since 1985. Not trying to steal someones thread. So, Nice 850 btcc! MR2_Lancer 05-14-2004, 10:30 PM i love that car. its jus so clean looking. i might have to get one to go with my accord...:) 675datsun 05-14-2004, 11:23 PM Thanks for the comments guys! I don't want to misinform anyone...the paint is TS-10 FRENCH BLUE not TS-23 Light Blue. Max88q- You can the 850 R -style 17" wheels from the Tamiya 850 BTCC Estate kit. I painted one side silver/other side gun metal! http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/133284130898265VZSaRy_ph.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/133284130898137JybcHK_ph.jpg jswillmon 05-15-2004, 12:24 AM very nice volvo's. Imagine distributing that photo out to family members then realising your big mistake. I mean, just where would you hide for the rest of your life !!! Later, Mike :smokin:  :lol2:  :lol2:  :lol2:  :lol2:  :lol2:  :lol2:  :lol2:  :lol2:   RallyRaider 05-15-2004, 07:09 AM I think the Volvo is looking pretty good without panel lines so far. Sometimes panel lines are needed, sometimes not. If you do wish to go that route then 1mm is extremely thick for a 1/24th panel line! I'd say a couple of tenths of a mm is the thickness on most of the cars I've painted the panel lines on. Would anybody happen to know if there were ever decals made for the red Peter Brock Australian Super Tourer version of this car? jswillmon 05-16-2004, 11:36 PM I think the Volvo is looking pretty good without panel lines so far. Sometimes panel lines are needed, sometimes not. If you do wish to go that route then 1mm is extremely thick for a 1/24th panel line! I agree, it is beautiful without. The detail on the front bumper with the bolts around the bottom and the great work you did on the tail lights, I never would have thought about the panel lines. MIKE: that's a good question, I'd hate to be those 2 freaks in the pic. I hope they left town....lol jgmodelcars 05-16-2004, 11:56 PM looks good :bigthumb: but im not a fan of panel lines so i say don't bother. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
