Motor SwapsSHOwned95 05-13-2004, 04:42 PM I know I am going to get flamed for this one. I have a chance to get a '86 rx7, but the motor is close to being blown and since its an 86 its not turbo nor do i want to the do that conversion. I have a little experience with rotaries, but I'n to lazy to build one, and I just want to know it anyone has seen a 1.8 turbo motor out of a new 323 or anyother small turbo motor swaped in. I know v8s can be thrown in, but I need a car that can get desent gas mileage so it anyone knows of a place that makes a kit or a place i can get more info that would be great Thanks MBTN 05-13-2004, 04:48 PM Anythign is possible with the resources. However I have never heard of a 1.8T motor being swapped in. Soyo 05-13-2004, 05:02 PM just buy a car with a 4 cyl turbo motor already, the custom fab of the swap will probably be way expensive flex339 05-13-2004, 10:18 PM If you have enough money to custom swap in a 1.8 something turbo motor then you wouldn't have to worry about mileage. Even with the gas prices where they are at now. rx7sracer 07-30-2004, 11:33 PM a 323 is fwd right? than howd u put that in a rwd rx7. way 2 much work. plus what is a 7 without rotors. some people dream 2 big kman10587 07-31-2004, 01:01 AM I'd get something else, and wait until you have enough money to get a good RX-7. D3rELiC 07-31-2004, 06:01 AM i'd buy my running s4 engine with good compression #'s, pm me if you need more info. Chris V 08-02-2004, 09:07 AM Any small engine trying to move that FC isn't going to get any better fuel mileage than a V8 OR good running stock N/A rotary. My '86 Sport model got 30 mpg with the stock N/A 13B on the highway, and 25 mpg highway after the V8 swap. I really don't see any small piston engine getting better than that once you get enough hp to move the car well. Soyo 08-02-2004, 03:14 PM my 91 NA gets 21-22 on the highway and 17-18 in town... but why not just buy an eclipse or something? you can find them cheap, they have turbo models, and they get good mileage ls1mazda93rx7 12-12-2004, 06:52 PM id just put a v8 in the damn thing, you wouldn't even see the gas mileage diff. plus you'll kick much ass in a race. mcs 12-13-2004, 08:38 AM im sure you could get a datto motor into it.. Soyo 12-13-2004, 04:37 PM yea good thing this post is 4 months old and the guy that started it hasn't been back since J-Rat 12-14-2004, 03:27 AM id just put a v8 in the damn thing, you wouldn't even see the gas mileage diff. plus you'll kick much ass in a race.
