rotary swapsSchweinhund 05-13-2004, 12:29 AM OK fellas and gals, forgive me for being naiive... I am a Honda guy, and I know turbos, but rotaries are foreign material to me. That's why I want one now. So I read an article on a guy who put together a beautiful 1973 rx-3 with an engine from an 85 rx-7 (13b, carbeurated of course). So I ask myself, can one put a 13bt (is that how we say FI turbo 1.3L from a turbo II?) in with the same engine mounts, or are there mount conversion kits? If I put it into an rx-2 (which is my long term plan if I can find one) can I buy a carbeurator kit to convert it over? If so I'm stoked to get on with a rotary! I tried to find websites with swap information, but I haven't had any luck. I'm sure someone out there must have tried this, too... I appreciate any info... Basically if the engine will fit the engine mounts, but if not, is it a simple matter to weld new mounts in? MBTN 05-13-2004, 12:51 AM Motor mounts is your biggest problem. And you want to convert a 13BT to carb? YIKES. I can't imagine how tough that one would be... Schweinhund 05-13-2004, 01:01 AM ooo-bummer if that's tough to convert to carbs... I've seen carb kits for dragster CRXs, but no luck for RX-&, eh? On the subject of motor mounts, do you think the guy with the 85 RX-7 engine in the 73 RX-3 had to redo the motor mounts, or does the 85 drop in and later models have a different mount configuration? flex339 05-13-2004, 02:46 AM I'd say go with a camden supercharger kit. They sell carb and FI kits. Soyo 05-13-2004, 04:33 PM carb on a turbo rotary... has that ever been done? oh well, good luck I guess MBTN 05-13-2004, 04:38 PM I saw a 1st gen on e-bay once. Didn't even have an intercooler. flex339 05-13-2004, 10:12 PM weren't the first gen series turbo models carbed in japan vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
