Custom 1/12th McLaren F1 GTR model...Peloton25 05-12-2004, 03:22 AM Well our newest member 'Thorst' dropped these in my inbox and asked me to share them. The photo quality isn't the greatest (I've done my best to clean them up) but you get the idea. This thing looks mighty impressive to me! :bigthumb: http://a7.cpimg.com/image/25/09/33482277-420c-025801C2-.jpg (http://speed.supercars.net/boardpics/2004-4-12/2274155-Peloton25a.jpg) http://a5.cpimg.com/image/23/09/33482275-929a-025801C2-.jpg (http://speed.supercars.net/boardpics/2004-4-12/2274155-Peloton25b.jpg) http://a9.cpimg.com/image/27/09/33482279-440c-025801C2-.jpg (http://speed.supercars.net/boardpics/2004-4-12/2274155-Peloton25c.jpg) http://a1.cpimg.com/image/29/09/33482281-31b8-025801C2-.jpg (http://speed.supercars.net/boardpics/2004-4-12/2274155-Peloton25d.jpg) Click each photo for the original hi-res image he sent me. Thorst. drewwtms 05-12-2004, 10:51 AM THAT IS RAD! Sweet! Peloton25 05-12-2004, 12:02 PM So that the forum doesn't miss out on our conversation, I'll post the important bits here. I asked Thorst about the custom bits on this 1/12th scale car and here's his reply: "Yes, I have manufactured and improvised many details on my custom drksilver. See the rims, they're totally rebuild, not just painted, you wont belive how long it took me to get that quite right. The downforce/spoiler set is also hand made by myself and I've added tons of detail which is difficult to catch with my crappy camera. The wheelnuts actually have BMW emblems in them! The color I choose for the interior olso makes it difficult to take a clean pic. I've spent about a year building and rebuilding things to have it the way I like it." RAD is a word I would use too. :bigthumb: >8^) ER McLaren F1 Guy 05-12-2004, 04:27 PM Wow. That looks excellent. Thorst13 08-17-2004, 08:01 AM Yup, I'm just finished with the work on my 1:12 LM and can't decide what color to choose! Papaya is the "true" LM color, while the black LM is "mystical"... What do you guys think?? I'm gonna have it professionally sprayed so it'g gonna cost a bit. cabrio92 08-17-2004, 08:16 AM Hello, if you cannot make two models, maybe humm in fact, the two colors would be fantastic !! Ciao Phil Peloton25 08-17-2004, 11:23 AM Yup, I'm just finished with the work on my 1:12 LM and can't decide what color to choose! Papaya is the "true" LM color, while the black LM is "mystical"... What do you guys think?? I'm gonna have it professionally sprayed so it'g gonna cost a bit. I'd go with the Paypaya for two reasons: - First, more people will recognize the car for what you are trying to make it appear to be in that color. Very little info is out there on the 'mythical' black ones, and it's still often debated that the cars even exist. There's some credible sources that have confirmed them, but it's still not common info. - Second, there's no reference material available to work from unless you have things that the rest of us do not. In trying to recreate something in scale this seems even more important than how many are familiar with it. I mean imagine spending the time and money to "recreate" one of the black LMs only to finish and a few weeks/months later actual photos appear of the two cars and your attempt doesn't really match up. That would certainly be disappointing im my book if that occurred. Can't wait to check it out! :bigthumb: >8^) ER christophe320d 08-18-2004, 10:22 AM my latest conversion http://community.webshots.com/s/image2/7/26/87/176072687WEmYRw_ph.jpg only had troubles with the mirrors :banghead: what is known on this paypaya color??? christophe320d 08-18-2004, 10:22 AM mini magic 08-18-2004, 10:40 AM redx mini magic 08-18-2004, 10:43 AM thanks christophe Peloton25 08-18-2004, 12:43 PM my latest conversion only had troubles with the mirrors :banghead: Sweet man - that looks great.
