I am looking for info on the GM plastic intake coolant leak problem.
My father-in law has a 94 Lesabre with 130k miles. He has had it for a year and has not had any coolant loss yet. It does have a plastic intake. It is the 3.8L engine (VIN L). I can only find info on the 1995-2003 with VIN K.
Does this coolant leak problem apply to the 1994 LeSabre with VIN L?
If so, what do you suggest?
How can we know if a previous owner had this fixed?

No it doesn't apply to the vin L engine.

Does anyone know why the 94 vin-L plastic intake plenum doesn't leak coolant from the heat of the EGR and the 95-98 vin-K engines do? (see gm tech bull 01-06-01-007A)
If we knew the reason, it would help us decide if we should spend the $500-$1000 to replace the upper and lower intakes even though there is no coolant leak at this time.

See related thread under Pontiac>Bonneville>3.8 intake leak. There is a company that makes a repair kit for the melted EGR passage. I just ordered one.

The Ken-Co company said their kit did not work on the vin-L engines.

The EGR on a vin L engine is located in a different spot. The tube has a totally different set up.
