I have had my 2001 :banghead: Kia Spectra GS for about 6 months and while driving it one day, the Check engine light came on and I read the code (P0301 Cylinder 1 misfire detected). Replaced the spark plugs and I am stil having the same code and hesitation when at idle and accelerating. Has anyone else had this happen to them and what do you suggest I do next without spending too much.

I finally fixed the problem, a bad spark plug wire. I called the local Schucks and they only sold the spark plug wire in a set for $74.99 and I had to pay first and they would ship it to the store in 2days. I then decided to call the Kia dealership and they had the spark plug wire for $12.99 in stock. This is the first time that a dealership was cheaper then the parts store.

I bought a new set of SP wires for $7.99 from www.partsformykia.com with free S&H

other possible problem is the coil that is on cylinder 4. since cyl 1 and 4 are tied together the coil on 4 is the same driver for cyl 1. inspect it for hairline cracks in it's casing and burn marks.
