Hey, Like some of you, i have this ugly, hot, and annoying red interior...
Im going to eventually change out the seats, but does anyone know if re-painting the dash trim and some plastics would be a good idea to accent the seats?
My major question is,, You know how theres a kind of "leathery" look to the dash and panels? Well, will that retain its look, or will it all just smooth out?
Any comments, suggestions, or opinions on this project??

Hey, i've seen that article but i didnt know it was yours.
Thats pretty cool, but my question is that when you sanded the panels,,, did that take away the "leather-look-finish."
Also, what kind of paint was that, i know theres engine enamel, ones like 500 degrees and the others 1500 deg. or so.
Which one works, and do other colors work, like chevy blue or a bright yellow?
Thanks.
question summary:
**Leather look finish still there?
**What kind of paint 500 or 1500?
**Color variety?

Hey, did you sand out the leather look design??
Could i paint without sanding to preserve the factory leathery look?

Well the paint I used is like shit. But its cheap. I had a few pannels come out good others not so much. I got some krylon i think its called for advanced auto. You don't need to prime or sand with this stuff. The problem is it kinda seperates on the plastic leaving marks. So if you would use little paint then u definatley could save the look. I used a lot becuase the paint is a bit difficult to use. Some pannels I got away with using just a few coats though. I didnt sand so idk really. I picked up the paint for about 5$ a can. Im not sure if I want to paint the pannels under the steeringwheel and the glove box. I am considering it. Since they are out.

hey, did you use the kylon or whatever "for plastics"?
ARR. this pisses me off. I hate my interior and painting it seems like a biatch..
OH, does anyone know how to change the color of the carpet trim on the doors?
Not the whole carpet just the carpet on the door panels. I dont think they come off.????
HelP!!!!

Ya on plastics. They make carpet dye. I havent gotten to the doors yet. I have yet to get out the pannel i spent so much time on it im taking a break for a while. On the cool side i replaced the bulbs behind my gauges though to red. I wanted to replace the carpet on the doors with red vinyl. I would assume it comes out. I don't know. It says the krylon paint works on like wood and other things on the can. I dont think it would be a good idea for vinyl. I cut a square peice and painted it to go under the ebrake (before the shifter.) and if you have the paint side up the stuff liek coins will ge imbeded to the paint. So I probably wouldnt reccomend using it for any high use parts. Like scuff plates or door handles. If anyone knows of a bright paint for vinyl let me know. Im almost going to have to use it on the door to make it look right,.
