i'm considering buying an '84 944, i was wondering where on the web can i find aftermarket performance parts? i'm looking for stuff like exhaust systems, cold air intakes, turbos, ect. any websites, vendor or company names would be great. also, can you turbo a n/a 944 for a reasonable amount of money, or does it cost a big chunk of change. any and all feedback is much appreciated. :)

This should get you started.

www.splitsec.com - fuel & intake
http://www.speedforceracing.com/ - exhaust

Recommendations:
1) Buy a later 944, early 944s (83-85.0)arent chippable without later components
2) Want something upgradeable? Buy a turbo. The cost to upgrade the N/A damn near equals the cost of the turbo car anyways. The 944 turbo is a VERY upgradeable car. And a lot less work to just buy.
3) The 944 already has a cold air intake setup!
4) Most of the aftermarket parts companies cater to the 944 turbo. There are few engine N/A upgrades that are really worth the money.

Mr 83 944-you keep stating that early DMEs are not chippable. This isn't intirerly true. There are many companys out there that will sell you the nessecary hardware to chip an early computer or if you ar not handy with a solder gun they will do it for you. TRy FRWilk.com

You're right, they are chippable.

Who else sells the board?

thanks alot, but i'm not going to buy the car anyways. i drove it today and it needs alot of work (which i was willing to do) but the i talked to the owner of the car lot and he wouldn't budge on the $4995 price on the windshield. it drove ok, but would have had to be my primary summer project. the only reason i looked at the n/a version of the car was because it was what was for sale now, not particularly because i was looking for a porsche 944. if i ever get one, i will get the turbo, the 944 seem to drive well, although i would have to put in a short throw shifter, the stock is really mushy. thanks again
