I have 1990 Jetta Wolfsburg with 1.8 engine. Whils working on my stereo the other day I noticed that all of my power windows stopped working. The manual mentions something about an overload relay that kicks in if it detects a problem with the motor binding. I dont know where this relay is located or whether or not this is the problem.

I checked all the connections and they seem fine and all the manuals I've looked conatin no info about the power window circuit.

Any ideas

Windows use fuse #14 (10A) in the fuse relay/panel & fuse #37 (30A) hidden above the fuse/relay panel. The power window relay is in position #19 (top left of the add on or auxillary section of the relay panel). Relay pin #6 (86 on the relay) should be hot with key on through fuse #14. Pin #2 (30 on the relay) should be hot at all times through fuse #37. If so then the relay is bad. You can jumper pins #2 (30 on relay) & #8 (87 on relay) to bypass the relay.
