2500 4x4 BrakesDeCon 05-06-2004, 07:38 PM What are good aftermarket brakes (rotors and pads). My 2000 2500 has 50500 miles on it and is ready for it's 3rd brake job. There has got to be a better brake out there. Thanks Dodgeintheblood 05-06-2004, 11:36 PM Thats odd, my dad's 99 2500 diesel has over 70,000 miles on it and its never had anything done to the brakes, not all highway miles either...?? BleedDodge 05-07-2004, 12:13 AM There's something wrong if it's eating brakes like that... DeCon 05-09-2004, 10:45 PM My truck may very well just be a lemon. It spent 3-4 months at a Dodge dealership. That is where I was first informed it needed brakes. I thought no way at 35000. I took the truck home to check them myself. There was virtually no pad there. The reason I say it's a lemon is because it was getting a harmonic at 70 mph. They put in a new transfercase, 2 different drive shafts, new gears and bearing (rear axle) and then 2 different housings. All by 36000 miles. The dealer said they had more the $16000 in it. I would say lemon. Dodgeintheblood 05-10-2004, 10:56 PM I would check out dodge to see if there was a recall on some of the trucks of that year. just a thought DeCon 05-10-2004, 11:19 PM There are a few TCB'S. but no recalls. The only TCB that applied was reprogramming the transmission and putting in a upper valve body(don't quote me on that) and I believe the reverse servo check ball. 10-95 07-01-2004, 08:55 PM What was the verdict????? My wife's truck is at 67,000 miles and I will be putting on the 3rd set of pads and the 2nd set of rotors. Pads showed a lot of wear, couldn't tell on the warping of the rotors. It shakes and shudders when you hit the brakes. One mechanic says my front end (everything, pitman arm, tie rods, etc) is shot. Another says the calipers are dragging another says :dunno: I'm going to take it back to the stealer, er, dealer next week. BleedDodge 07-02-2004, 03:33 AM Your wife must really like her brakestands... vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
