Speedy for a truck.90Stangjc 05-06-2004, 12:02 AM A friend of mine took his 01' Silverado up to the track. All he's got done to it is flowmaster mufflers with turndowns, K&N filter, and stall converter. Anyday, first run turned 15.40's. Ewwww. We iced it and let it cool. Took it back on a whoop there it is, 14.80's. Nice. It the 2wd, short bed, 2 door with the 5.7. All i can say is damn, there are not many trucks that turn 14's in pretty much stock form. Then i come in here and dont see anybody talking about racing there silverados. Why? ridge_runner 05-06-2004, 12:18 AM damn... thats fast for that truck.... Jimmiz71 05-06-2004, 09:46 AM Are you sure its a 5.7 and not a 5.3 ? I thought the last trucks they put the 5.7 in was the 99' older body style trucks.. either way that its a quick time for a truck.. -Jimmy vnotaro 05-06-2004, 11:07 AM I think the reason you don't see much talk about racing is wear and tear. Racing is pretty abusive on the drive train not to mention the body if you wreck. Lot of $$$ spent on mods and then it's all gone just to see if you can shave a few tenths off your 1/4 mile. Plus a lot of guys use their trucks daily to cart around all kinds of stuff including family. Still... that's fast for a truck! TexasF355F1 05-06-2004, 11:13 AM Are you sure its a 5.7 and not a 5.3 ? But yeah it is alot of wear and tear he's already replaced the transmission. I dont think that was from racing though. He's powerbrakes through the 1st, 2nd and 3rd. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
