Dear Sirs,
I've got a 92' grand voyager, with a 3,3litre engine.
Automat. transmission, cruise control and air.cond.
Recently I've had a few problems. When I hit the ignition
in the morning, it usually starts with no problem at all.
Then I drive for let's say 15 mins and turn off the ignition.
Then I try to start it again, but it refuses. That is,if
I press the gas to the bottom and hold it while turning the
key it starts, eventually. Then I have to keep the pedal down
for a while to prevent it from stopping. If I let rpm. drop
it sometimes stop and the "check gages" light up. Sometimes
the "check engine" lights up, even if it starts normally.
If I stop and start again the "check engine" doesn't light up.
It's getting harder to start every now and then, even if I floor it.
Me, myself are at a loss as to understanding this and hope you
can help me. And one more question, are the park lights supposed
to be on all the time?
Regards
Olav Myrstad

Throttle position sensor, Idle air control valve?

You need to extract the codes from the computer to be sure.

If you don't know how to retrieve the codes, post back here and I'll tell you.

Since you're outside th US, you probably have the daytime running lights. The lights are supposed to be on when ignition is on. If they're still on after you get out and turn the Van off, the daytime running light module is bad, or your headlamp switch is bad.

If you mean the on/off/on/off/on I get, 12,22,52,17 and end code 55.
Does this help to pinpoint the problem?

In Norway we must have daylights, yes. But I thought that park lights were meant for when you parked the mini van on the roadside. Because, otherwise you regulate lighs with the handle on the left of the steering wheel. This isn't as important as the start problems though. I've done a little testing; seems to be harder to start when temprature raises.

I disconnected the battery for a long period to see what happened.
I cleared the codes. Then I took it for a spin, parked it and tried to start. But no,it fails to start again.I check the codes and get a 22. -i.e. coolant sensor out of range. What do I do now? Where is this sensor? By the way, I had driven approx. for 5 min. when the check engine came on.

Also, when I turn the key to on pos. the check gages won't go out until I star the car.

A funny thing happened also whe rinsing some relays; when I hit the lights button, the wipers go on and the left turn signal goes on (not blinking),guess there is a short here?

One other thing you could check that I forgot about:
MAP sensor. It's been known to be faulty and make the van run crappy and throw a 52 (O2 sensor)code.

Just remembered it... I Hope it helps..

Problem solved!

Changed coolant temp. sensor and O2 sensor, both are easy and cheap, and voila! It runs like a dream!

Thanks for helping me out.
