I just bought a '93 4Runner for my son, and am having some idle problems. After stopping at a stop light is seems to want to idle around 1500 - 1800 RPM. If I hit the gas really quick, it idles back down to about 750...sounds like something is sticking. Anyone know what that could be?

Maybe your thermostat or your engine coolant temperature sensor.

a frayed throttle cable will give you eratic behavior i had that problem. i found that stainless steel cable was fraying and catching on the insulation....worth a look ;)
