When are ford engines made to fall apart? Is it 75K or 100K?

What about the 3.0 v6? Or did I accidentally skip over that one? No, ford engines, in my experience, have lasted well over 100k. My old Tempo (RIP) had 255k on it, didn't leak or burn oil...but burned the tires nicely.

Well lemme see.. I had an 87 F150 with the 300 six-banger, that had about 290,000 kms. Rear main seal leaked, and low compression on number 1 cylinder. I sold it to a neighbour, and he drove it for 4 more years before he changed out the engine. I also had an 88 Tempo wih the HO 2.3 and that had something like 249,000 kms. I abused that engine on a regular basis, but it never complained, and it always started right up, no matter how long it sat or how cold it was outside. My mother had an 85 Tempo, with the carb'ed 2.3, can't remmber how many miles it had, but it was high. Engine ran nice, no noise, and that one started right up every time without fail. My brother had a 93 Taurus with the 3 liter V6, the motor was the best part of that car. My very first car was a 1980 Fairmont with the 255 V8. Since the transmission only worked in first and second gear, rarely in third, I drove around at 55 mph in 2nd most of the time, and one time I drove 75mph for about 30 minutes in 2nd gear. The ol' 255 seemed to run a bit rough after that, but that was it. Now I don't know if you just have had bad luck with Ford motors, but in my family's experience, the motor was the best part of the Ford car.

If we're counting kilometers, then my car had over 410km on it when I flipped it doing 70, and 3 days later, once it was right side up again, the engine cranked over on the second try (fuel inertia switch kicked the pump off, and I didn't remember it at first).

At one time it was going into what was to become the Mustang. It was mid-engined. A Mustang concept in the early sixties

Here is a quote from a Mustang book I Have:
" The original Mustang was preceded by several prototypes, among them the Mustang I. It bowed in 1962 as a two seater on a 90 inch wheelbase. Mounted amidships in its tubular frame and driveing the rear wheels was a 1927 cc V-4 that made 90 bhp at 6500 rpm. The powertrain was from a still born Ford sub-compact that would have used a front engine, front drive layout"

Can you imagine what the sports cars would be like today if Ford would have used that design.
There would probably be no Comaro (I know that they don't make them anymore), The Chevy performance car would actually be simular to the Ferio.
We'd most likely be driving small little turbo charged 4 and 6 bangers.
What would the Japanese do, make turbo Lawn mower motors and have them put out 300hp in cars?
That would be weird!
