944 for sale (maybe)aeronautica86 05-04-2004, 12:49 AM I was prompted to put this in here by omega22v7's last thread... Well, I know this is far out of his price range listed but....I have an red 5 speed '87 n/a 944 that is in *wonderful* condition. The interior(tan BTW) is great, no seam rips, dash is not faded or cracked, leather still looking great, carpet in good condition, power drivers seat, power windows, no sunroof (less weight....) power-assist steering. Outside is great too. When we bought it, it had 59K miles, it now has 80K. Also, when we bought it, we also got a set of turbo s rims - 7x16" front, 9.5x16" rear with 225 fronts, 245 rears. we also have the original wheels. Since we bought it we have replaced the tires, waterpump, timing belt, clutch, power steering rack, one rim (driving through a bad rain storm and hit a hidden pot hole...bent the rim a little), all the hoses, power steering pump, alternator belt, transmission oil, thermostat, heater regulator, windshield washer pump, spark plugs, distributor cap and rotor, spark plug wires, and some of the weatherstripping. Basically I have probably $5000 dollars in receipts. Obviously I don't expect to recoupe all of this money, but I think it does make the car a bit more valueable... I looked at a couple of 944s (one an 86 and one an 88) both with about 90k miles at a dealership the other day...they were in not too good condition...faded paint, ripped up seats, bad carpet, not wonderful engines...the guy was asking $5500 for each of them. I know those prices would have been somewhat negotiable, but still, I also know that my car should be worth a hell of alot more than those cars. The differences are night and day between mine and these two... Bottom line, I'm getting a '94-'96 corvette for college in the fall, and I don't have to sell this car. My parents offered to store it, but I kinda think, whats the point? I won't be able to drive it for 8 years (going to med-school after pre-med...) so I don't really need it either. Like I said, doesn't have to sell, but if the price were right I would definately consider it, so if anyone is interested or you know someone that might be, let me know.
