Alright i live in New York and i found this nice looking red 2000 Dakota Sport. It has 81k miles on it i think that most of them have to buy hw for 4 year old car. But the rear tires did look like they only had 20% or less left on them.. maybe there the orginals??? The guy wants 6000 but im pretty sure i can bring the price down. The car is a 5spd with cloth seats, cassete, cruise.. and a few others but i forget. Is it a good buy or should i pass this one.

When I find the store that sells common sense, I'll refer you to them and make you happy.

What a stupid question. Do you want to know what brand of toilet paper you should wipe your ass with too? I'm serious, I bet the tires are spun off.

A Dodge Dakota is not a car. It is a truck.

You didn't tell us what motor is in it. If it's a 4 cylinder, it isn't worth 2 cents... not if you expect it to pull all this bull that's flying here!

I wouldn't worry over tire condition anyway. At 80K you can't expect the tires to be any better than half worn out...

give more info, get more info.... it's that simple.

Alright sorry for being so rude and sorry for leaving out the information.

Its a v6 magnum, i tired to include as much information i could just left that one little piece out. Its got a bed liner too, im not sure if the TRUCK comes stock or if its a dealer option so ill include that too.

A V6 Dakota? Well, I guess it would be a good work truck, but there's nothing sporty about a V6 Dakota.

I'd say if you can get it for $5k, go for it. Just don't expect it to be a sport truck without a V8.

sure there is.... its says sport on the side of it lol. I know what you mean though.

Ok so the v6 magnum.. is it a good engine? Will it last much more that 81k? does it have much power or will i be sorry that i bought it. Theres a kid in my town who has almost hte same truck but he has dual pipes and it looks aobu tthe same year.

The V6 Dodge engines are bad for timing chains, spark knock, and V8-like fuel consumption. Might as well have a V8.

Screw the V8, the V6 Dakota is plenty fast. It has a very large V6 with a lot of low end torque. I would get a V8 if it was only slightly more expensive, but I would not pay thousands more for a V8.

Yeah the very large 3.9.

I saw some moron on the way home last night with a for sale sign in an '00 Dakota, thing was "arrest me red".... Sign said:
"FOR SALE, excellent condition, V6 auto, 88K, $9000.00" which was crossed out and then $8500.00 which was also crossed out and "$8000.00". This guy's running out of room on his sign.... the truck looked nice, it's red and has one of those fiberglass bed covers (i think it was A.R.E. ...)
But the moral to this story is:
The trucks worth maybe $4500.00 max as a trade-in (less the bed cover thing) and maybe a private owner/dealer sale could squeeze $7000.00. This guy in traffic drove the truck like an a$$hole, too. Too many miles for a truck that age to be worth more than $7000.00.
Would I buy it? yeah, even with the V6, but I'd only give the $4500.00 price.... :)

don't expect a shiny diamond though, you'll be lucky if it hauls goat crap without the V8...

No, I don't need a new truck. Mine's at over 400K now and looks every bit as good as that dakota... But mine's full size and (quite obviously)a slant six! :)
Besides, the slant six is a 225(3.7L) and has lasted this long, with a bottom end rebuild, cam lifters and an exhaust manifold all replaced ONCE, at 120K. The damn thing still tows my brother's boat better than his B250 van (318, an anemic conversion van...)! :)

buy it , only if it's cheap.
