Towards the front or the back Thanks GMMerlin 05-04-2004, 06:51 PM I have a 1983 GMC 4X4 Drum brakes on the back, one shoe lining is smaller that the other where does it go? The rear shoe is made larger because it functions on "servo action." Because of the way the rear shoe is hinged, the shoe is pulled into the drum. If both shoes were the same size, the rear shoe would be worn-out first. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
