I need to replace the alternator and do other things down the line but haven't been able to find a good resource to help me along...

As of right now, I am a bit stuck as to how my alternator comes off and how the belt for it is adjusted for tension...

John Miur's "Idiot Book" is a classic for the novice. Bentley publishes the most comlete Volkswagen repair manuals for the do-it-yourselfer & repair shop alike. Both are widely available & on eBay.
