manual or autoLan.Evo.VIII 05-02-2004, 11:42 PM hi, are manual slower or faster than a automatic. If so Y. than kyou PoisonFangs 05-02-2004, 11:57 PM wow. A lot of people are going to answer this one. The manual are faster than the autos. But the autos are more consistant. If i could do it all over i would have bought a manual or at least a sportshift. Do you own a Evo VIII or is that just a name. kicker1_solo 05-03-2004, 01:59 AM All of my cars are 5 spds, and yes they are faster. I believe it has something to do with the gearing in the auto tranny that makes them slower. GScivic7 05-03-2004, 02:20 AM All of my cars are 5 spds, and yes they are faster. I believe it has something to do with the gearing in the auto tranny that makes them slower. along with 1 less gear. BrokenLimits 05-03-2004, 06:54 AM ehh Depends, Auto Supra is faster the a manual mod for mod because the motor will hold boost the whole time. Beastiek2 05-03-2004, 07:49 AM Evo comes only manual right stick more pick up mycivic 05-03-2004, 01:12 PM I dont know which is really faster but I would say manual. Reason is, you can control the shifting and make it go redline every shift. Auto doesent let you do that, it shifts by itself and it usually doesent shift at redline if you floor it. Same car/same engine/same driving skill...manual would win in a race. Just as a side note...Manual is fun to drive. Doesent get boring driving because you shift gears. emerge 05-03-2004, 01:59 PM automatics are slower based solely on the fact that you can't control them. you won't get maximum power from each gear as well as you would with a stick. also, think about launching... CivicSpoon 05-03-2004, 02:17 PM IMO (maybe i'm just a crack head) but in my experience; my manual 70hp cx feels peppier than my 90 oldsmobile automatic with 180hp. But that could just be from the cx being so much lighter and me feeling more control with the stick. Jas_M 05-03-2004, 04:10 PM From what i've read in car mags like Car & Driver, R&T, etc., when they do 0-60 tests or quarter mile runs, manuals generally are about .4-.6 seconds faster than an automatic. MunG35 05-03-2004, 06:38 PM First off, state what car you're talking about and also are you a lazy person and can u drive stick? Take all those factors into considerations. Also, if you go through heave traffic. God Speed with the stick buddy. Autos are great for lazy people, or people whose parents hate stick and wont teach em (Like me!) Thus, I'm gonna learn on my friends sidekick or uncles car. Anyhoo, see whats more reasonable rather than just faster. Just my 2 cents. Beastiek2 05-03-2004, 06:55 PM yea its real fun at the tack when the christmas tree turns green to just slam on ur gas pedal for 13 sec till the race is over...shifting down the track is just the best feeling no skills in automatic Lan.Evo.VIII 05-03-2004, 10:51 PM well first of all i dont really have a lan evo, if i did i wouldnt be asking this question. I was wanting to buy a older honda civic hatchback and do an engine swap. that is y i kinda put it in this section. see here is the thing. my parents is wanting to buy a car for me but it wont be really mine until they pay it off. so it might be a few years. my father said you may pick out a car. but he has drive it too and the car must cost around 30k. and a sudden happiness came to mind, that i can get a lan evo or a 350z. which he likes both very much. but he doesnt know how to drive a stick neither do i but my uncle said he was willing to teach me after i get back from vietnam. i told my dad after i learn i can teach him. he said WTF, and told me it would be like learning to drive all over again. if this story is too confusing. i am srry thank you PoisonFangs 05-04-2004, 12:05 AM yea its real fun at the tack when the christmas tree turns green to just slam on ur gas pedal for 13 sec till the race is over...shifting down the track is just the best feeling no skills in automatic 13 seconds till the race is over, Is that in your 7th gen? or was that just an example, if so that is very impressive. kicker1_solo 05-04-2004, 12:38 AM my parents is wanting to buy a car for me and the car must cost around 30k. *cough* *bullshit* *cough* PoisonFangs 05-04-2004, 12:41 AM wow, i must have read over that one. HAs to be 30k damn dude, you guys have money if it HAS to be that much. Lan.Evo.VIII 05-04-2004, 10:52 PM 30k isnt that much for a car. it is consider average. of courge not we arent gonna pay off in 1 payment. thank you PoisonFangs 05-05-2004, 12:46 AM Well that may be average for you, but where i come from average for a car is 15,--- to 20 mycivic 05-05-2004, 12:37 PM 13,--- for me. Cant afford cars that I want yet. :icon16: PoisonFangs 05-05-2004, 01:14 PM Dont you just wish bill gates was your daddy. Beastiek2 05-05-2004, 01:16 PM i'd rather blow 15 on a civ and dump 15 k into it cause it will beat everything on the planet PoisonFangs 05-05-2004, 01:24 PM I hear you on that one. SLEEPER mycivic 05-05-2004, 01:35 PM Dont you just wish bill gates was your daddy. Ehehehe! I wish I was Bill Gates (Well not literally, just the money he has is all I want :icon16: ). Why wish he was your daddy when you can be him. :icon16: PoisonFangs 05-05-2004, 01:37 PM cause if he was my daddy i would not have to give a flying flock about a buisness. just get a couple bottomless credit cards and have the world as my oyster. mycivic 05-05-2004, 01:45 PM Il hire somebody to do all that. :icon16: Blitz_Runner 05-05-2004, 06:45 PM I'm with Beastiek2 on this one. Get a Civ or Rx7, Skyline, something able to be royaly decked out and spend 15k on the tuning. And besides, tuning is where all the fun comes from! Lan.Evo.VIII 05-05-2004, 06:50 PM well, i would get a civic but i want to get an manual and father doesnt know how to drive 1 and he wants to drive it too. Also rx-7 are impossible to find 1 where i live, i live in a small town in LA. Also i kinda want to find a hatchback civic. Do you know any1 that is selling 1 near me?
