oil weight in summermnwalleye 04-29-2004, 07:53 PM Have a 98 Dodge Grand Caravan 3.3 and have been running 5/30 weight oil in it but now I'm wondering if I should switch to 10/30 for the summer. Van now has 78,000 miles on it and just out of extended warranty where I always brought to the dealer for oil changes but now I'm going to do it myself. Owners manual calls for 5/30. Hmmm, MNWalleye EVH5150 04-29-2004, 09:18 PM I always ran 5W30 in both my vehicles year round with no problems. Van is a 94 with 77,000 miles and truck is a 92 with 67,000 miles. yale329 06-22-2004, 02:06 AM It really depends on the climate. If your driving in extreme summer heat and you plan on keeping your vehicle for some time, I would use a synthetic 10W30. You will not be dissapointed. You get what you pay for many times over with good oil. mnwalleye 06-22-2004, 08:09 PM Thanks Yale, I just might give that a try, I typically try to keep my vehicles as long as possilbe and the Caravan stays in the garage in the winter as I use mostly for long trips where you need to haul people, bikes and model airplanes. thanks again, MN Walleye vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
