Im trying to remove the headrest on my cav so I can take those seatbealt/shoulder peices off. Reason being I want to put on seat covers. Is it possible to remove them without cuting them off???

I know how this feels.....(Of course mine is a 97' Cavy, but im sure they are the same because they matched up to my friends 04' SUNFIRE! lol)Well the headrests do come off but i dont think the seat belt holder plastic does. I had to put on seat covers also and just poked a wee hole in the fabric.Everyone i asked bout this subject just drooled so i went n explored on my own. I lifted up the headrest, took a smaller screw driver and worked the fabric around the little white poles that hold the metal post of the headrest. Down there u will find a piece of metal which looks like a staple. It is circled around the white posts and if you work them loose the metal post of the headrest will come un-caught and you can easily slide the headrest off. It does become a pain in the arse thing with the fabric trying to come back up and what not. By the end u just wanna set something on fire!! Another thing too!! there is a down side to doing this .All the fabric around the little holes where the metal posts go, becomes a bit stretched .( who looks there n e ways ) Also i never attempted to put the little metal pieces back in. This my suck if your in a accident i would say your head rest may go every which way.Well i say if your desprate and just wanna go show ppl neener neener neener i did what can't be done!...GO FOR IT ! Hope this helps...

I had the same problem, but instead of cutting the seat cover, i cut those plastic pieces off. Just raise the headrest as far as you can, pry the plastic down away from the headrest as far as you can by sticking a long screw driver or something in there, and I just used a metal cutting disk on a rotary cutting tool, Like a dremil. Just be carefull and wear safety glasses, because that plastic goes flying and there will be a little mess to clean up, but its not bad at all
