I was reading around some older posts and the subject of timign came up. I was wondering what is involved in advancing the timing I have played with the timing in older cars liek 81 mazda padock hacks and the like but never a car with an ECU so what do I need to do? and how far should I advance it?

Thanks

John

The procedure can be found on http://www.se-r.net so I won't bother to retype it here.

One comment about the info on SE-R.net, at the time it was just accepted to set the base idle and timing to 17 deg BTDC. Through some dyno testing it has been found that in some case you can go higher and get some noticeable gains. There are some cases where the car likes less.

I don't know if you can get mobil 98 in CHCH but I run 19 degrees on 98 with no problems.
