Nissan 300ZX vs. Toyota Celica GT-Sfreakonaleash1187 04-22-2004, 08:10 PM i have a nissan 300zx n/a 5 speed and this kid has a 2000 toyota celica gt-s 6 speed. he keeps on bragging and bragging that his car is faster. other than they are girl cars, i dont know anything about celicas. so who would win in a straight line race? MattyG 04-22-2004, 10:10 PM Off the top of my head I'd say the Celica would win, based on the weight of the Z. I think the N/A Z's develop around 220HP and (guessing) the Celica's 2L unit about 180. Based on Power/weight Id guess the Celica, but Im no expert on either car. Neutrino 04-22-2004, 10:14 PM Well the only way to find out for sure is to race him. Other than that be very careful with them they weigh only 2500 LBs and those 1.8L yamaha developed engines are not bad. they can dip into the 14's quite easily. freakonaleash1187 04-22-2004, 11:34 PM i do want to race him. it is just a point of trying to find a spot where there are no cops. i would think it would be a good race, but i dont know if he knows how to race. 3kgt8 04-23-2004, 12:11 AM the 300zx would win plus its a way better car. celicas are slow and everyone has one, especially chics. 3kgt SLs kick celicas ass all the time, you should have no prob doing the same. freakonaleash1187 04-29-2004, 08:32 AM i raced him and he kept up with me, then i found out he has cold air intake and aftermarket exhaust. he started to take me at about 130 because of his damn 6th gear. sad day for me. MR2Driver 04-29-2004, 11:12 AM It was his VVTI, not his 6th gear. You shoulda got a good jump on him with your RWD advantage and kept that distance until 100ish, thats where you shoulda shut it down. Either way, you drive a sports car, he drives a FWD chick car. Demon_Mustang 04-29-2004, 05:05 PM Not sure about the GT-S, but I've driven the Celica GT and it's dirt slow. I open up the throttle and get absolutely nothing but noise... I've heard the GT-S is considerably faster though, but faster than what I tried in the GT, is not really much of an accomplishment, unless it really is A LOT faster. freakonaleash1187 04-29-2004, 05:39 PM but shouldn't the vvti kick in at the end of every gear? also yeah, i didn't get a very good launch. i got to much wheel spin. but he is going around school saying that he beat me by like three car lengths, the only time he was ever that far in front of me was because we were coming up to a hill and i was in the left lane and i didn't want to get hit head-on so i slowed down and got over behind him. but what is funny is that everybody at school is like, i dont care if he is faster than you, we still like your car better. lordvektra 04-29-2004, 11:06 PM stock for stock if he is a really good driver he should be able to take ya or at least head to head. The GT-S is fast but only if it keep it in the power band between like 6500-7500 and its light. Demon_Mustang 04-29-2004, 11:21 PM I really hope the powerband starts before 6500rpm... :eek7: lordvektra 04-30-2004, 08:14 AM im not sure exactly where it is but its not long at all, im sure its before 6500 but the point is you have to fight to keep it in the power band. TatII 04-30-2004, 03:27 PM i mean big deal he has a GTS and he beat a n/a Z big deal. he used a top of the line model celica to beat a base model Z. anyways the Z is still a much cooler looking car. the GT-S is a pretty quick car. i would expect the vvti engaugement point to be around the same as the RSX type S which is around 6K kkiepvvessau 05-02-2004, 11:31 PM celica gts can't even kill prelude vtec , how it expect to kill the Z n/a Filthy Sanchez 05-03-2004, 04:00 PM It was his VVTI, not his 6th gear. You shoulda got a good jump on him with your RWD advantage and kept that distance until 100ish, thats where you shoulda shut it down. Either way, you drive a sports car, he drives a FWD chick car. Got that one right brother, besides Celicas are friggin ugly to boot! They're weaker than hell and way overrated and overpriced! Do the headlights go all the way up to the windshield? Viggen 05-03-2004, 05:49 PM And the celica is front wheel driven. The 300ZX even wins from the new Nissan 350Z. By the way, it has got 286 hp kkiepvvessau 05-05-2004, 08:29 AM the front look nice , hmm the back crap especially the light ... Filthy Sanchez 05-05-2004, 03:14 PM the front look nice , hmm the back crap especially the light ... Actually the Celica front and back looks like crap. kkiepvvessau 05-05-2004, 10:59 PM And the celica is front wheel driven. The 300ZX even wins from the new Nissan 350Z. By the way, it has got 286 hp stand Z Won't beat 350 Z , U Meant Z32 TT Dinoslav 07-27-2005, 06:49 AM I own a Toyota Celica Sx it is a Australian Model Exact same as a GTS except auto with tiptronic I never brag about the celica cause there are heaps better cars on the road!!! but it is very similiar to the Acura Integra Type R and is quick and a very advanced engine and by the way the celica just 2 give u a hints when racing a celica make sure you get a good start. The power band starts from 4000rpm thats when torque kicks in till 6000rpm from 6000 to approx 8000 (bit less) it hammers just like v-tec so there you go just beat him at the start and shift quickly!!!! mason_RsX 07-27-2005, 07:07 AM it is very similiar to the Acura Integra Type R and is Hey hey lets not go nuts here...Its very similar to an RSX Type-S, not a Type R (unless your models are different in Australia)...and an rsx is easily a step down from a type r As for the race, tough luck...id suggest you get a friend with a TT, borrow it for a day, and go back to school and tell the guy you got a paint job so its much faster...race him, and murder him...and everybody gets a good laugh Dinoslav 07-27-2005, 07:09 AM ye they are a step down Celica sx is 141kw approx and Type r in Aus is 141kw approx so i guess thats why! clawhammer 07-27-2005, 10:58 AM This thread is really old. DO NOT BRING BACK OLD THREADS!!! fairladyz_gt-r 07-27-2005, 04:00 PM 6500~7500!? wow that's a very very tight power ban, must be a horrible car for everyday driver fairladyz_gt-r 07-27-2005, 04:02 PM oops~ mod close it plz vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
