Oil in spark plug socket

1996 SL2 4door coupe

In the most left sparkplug, facing engine, I think that's #4, I get oil seeping into the socket.

it's become a habit, when I change the oil, I clean the socket. When I pull the plug wire, there is about 3/4 inch of oil on the plug. I clean out the oil, pull the spark plug, clean everything out, wipe down, put all back together, WORKS FINE. 3 months later, next oil change, do it all over again.

I did take the time one time to really clean the shit out of the socket. using chem wipes and air. I inspected for cracks, re-threaded the plug socket, poked around the gasket material.... NOTHING obvious.

The car runs great, I just want to quit my quarterly annoyance.

Tips, Tricks, Ideas are most welcome

you have to replace your valve cover gasket. Should be around $30 their are O rings aroung the valve cover that keep the oil in the motor, when they get hard they leak into the spark plug holes and out the side of the cover. very easy to fix.
