92 lumina won't start recent engine rebuilddamsilndestress 04-21-2004, 11:02 AM after a hard overnight rain, when i went to start my car it wouldn't turn over, i almost ran the battery dead trying to get it to start. i thought once that i smelled gas but it was only 1 brief wiff. i had the engine rebuilt (topside) about 2000 miles ago. about 500 miles ago it started this tapping noise. i have had a cv joint clicking noise also. could my cv joint going out keep it from starting? any ideas what a mom of toddlers could safely check out to find the problem would be so greatly appreciated. its a 92 lumina v6 don't know liter size. thanks SlamminMOfo 04-21-2004, 01:28 PM From what you described, I would have the fuel pump checked (turn your key on to ALT (dont start it) and see if you hear the humm of the fuel pump). If not that, I would check the distributor cap. May be cracked and got some moisture in there. Lastly, the CV joint has nothing to do with starting. A CV joint is a joint on with bearings inside it and it goes inside your spindle which holds your rim/tire in. When dirt gets into a torn CV joint boot, it can start to click after time. damsilndestress 04-25-2004, 11:31 PM Well today we replaced the fuel pump. actually not too hard of a job (5 hours) start to finish. And YEAH! it started! I just wanted to let everone who run and visit this site know that I am grateful to ya'll! This will be my first stop if I need help. thanks.
