what year transmissions will fit???

i have a 79 corolla that i just bought for 20 bucks....lol and the trasmission in it is ufcked, so i just want to know what will work in it cuz we were gonna take the motor and tranny out and make a dune buggy out of it. it has an automatic in it now and i would like to put a 4 speed back in it...so if someone could tell me the years that would work with that car so i can start huntin one it would be appreciated

Finding a 4-speed tranny would be quite a search that may not be worth your time, effort, or money.

You would fare better with a T50 5-speed tranny from the 77-87 RWD Corolla models. Note that the later versions found on the AE86 Corolla GT-S models have slightly better gear ratios than the older models, but they are harder to find than the earlier versions.
