hey guys...i'm looking for inputs as how to completely max my z out. it's a 1990 TT and everything is bone stock right now. i kinda have an idea of what i want to use but i was curious as to what some of you guy thought the best route would be as far as turbos, ecu, intake, fuel, etc...i want to be putting out something in the area of 700hp+ to the wheels. i've seen JWT's stuff as well as Stillen and Z1 Motorsports, but not one of those companies sells everything i have in mind. any inputs as to how to go about achieving this power number would be great. thanks a lot.

What EXACTLY do you have in mind that neither JWT or STILLEN do not have-????

if you are looking to upgrade your turbos, i would take a look at greddy. personally, greddy is my favorite aftermarket company for turbochargers and related parts. here is the two upgraded turbo kits greddy has for the z32 http://greddy.com/products/product_detail.asp?catidx=3&catname=Turbochargers&prodtype=90&prodtypename=Turbo%20Upgrade%20Kits&productidx=1316 http://greddy.com/products/product_detail.asp?catidx=3&catname=Turbochargers&prodtype=90&prodtypename=Turbo%20Upgrade%20Kits&productidx=1317

Ok, I guess I wrote that wrong. It sounded good to me at the time. What I am really looking for is inputs on different combinations that have been proven to work on the Z extremely well. Also I'm looking for personal opinions on different equipment and experience as to what fits and what doesn't.

What is the best ECU for the z32? i heard the stillen is good but then again some say JWT is better. Some are customizable and some are pre configured. Which is best?

I Think Getting Your Car Upto 700hp Is Gonna Make A Hole In Your Wallet Well At Least In Mine But Reaching That Much Power Your Basically Gonna Have To Rebuilt Your Engine Get New Turbos, Air Intakes, Chip Upgrade You Know The Hole Deal And Replace All Old Hoses, Man Its Alot Of Work! But If You Haven't Done Any Upgrades Yet You Made Want To Do Basics First Air Intake, Exhaust, Chip Upgrade, Boost Controller And Turbo Timer. I Read That Having A 400hp 300zxtt Wasn't Much Of A Diffents To A 600hp 300zxtt Cause Of The Larger Turbos Witch Creates More Turbo Lag But As For Me My Z Is A Daily Driver So Doing Basic Boltons Is More Than Enough.

Alright...here's just about all you need to know:
ECU: Only choice...JWT...they're the only company as far as I know that reprograms the vg30dett's ecu. I believe stillen and many others ACTUALLY use these...not their own.
Intake: Again...JWT...by the way JWT is Jim Wolfe Technologies. They are nearly Z specific and have EVERYTHING you can think of for Z32s and it's all been proven to work. Anyway....get the JWT Dual Pop Charger if you want serious power and the Single Pop Charger if you're not going too far with it. The Dual Pop is pretty expensive but it really is better. If you wanna know why, ask me...I don't feel like explaining it all right now.
Exhaust: B&B Exhaust 3" with 3" tips. Period.
Turbos: Greddy TD05-16G Kit. From there you can change out the compressor and turbine wheels and it'll boost as hard as you want. You can get 750whp with this and some tweaking.
Intercooler: Any big front mount intercooler.
Any of these products I've mentioned are available on www.sgpracing.com as well as a million other things. Awesome company. What *I* would do if I were in your position is ship my car to SGP, let them do one of their engine building services on it. There are many to choose from and they're all on that site...from there, the sky's the limit...you'd have a fully race prepped engine. I have soooooooooooooooooooooooo many articles about modding 300's that it's not even funny...you want to read some or have any other questions, let me know.

What do you plan do use this car for? Is it going to be a show or race or street machine? If your going to sink all of this, and I repeat ALL of this money because this is going to set you back 10k+ probably, you aren't going to want to be driving it to the 7-11. This will guide alot of your part decisions...if its going to be a show car then you don't need alot of build up work unless you just want more to brag about, and who doesn't, but other wise I would start with that. The VG and 300Z as a whole are stout pieces of machinery but if you get more then 450-500HP+ you will start eating the stock pieces really quick...and engine building is a ton of money, especially since virtually no one can do it themselves, incurring a huge labor bill added to the already high cost of performance parts. I would like to be able to balance my own crank but... :D

for the ecu, check out www.300zx.com , www.z1motorsports.com , those should be the same site(i put both in case one is wrong) the ashspec ecu has been proven to be very good and reliable, and cheaper. www.boost-solutions.com also carries a ecu, and for about 700rwhp, your gonna need a good 20k. Check out the peacemaker on the first site i listed. and go to www.twinturbo.net , they have more info than you could imagine on theese topice but make sure you use search because the are some assholes.

oh and longlivethez, it took 20g's to l;ay down 744whp in Wagz car(a guy from www.twinturbo.net) so im skeptical of 16g doing the same

You see...my goal is to be able to beat a Z06 at half the price of a Z06. He says he wants to "max out" his Z...what exactly is "maxed out"? You have to have a def goal. I choose the Z06 because it beats damn near anything on the road in most areas...so I want to build one cheaper to show the Z06 guys that they spent too damn much money. That is my goal.
I can't imagine it taking (including the cost of the car.....just say 10-12G) more then $26,500 (half the $53,000 MSRP of a Z06). That leaves, just say, $15,500 to sink into the VG30 to get enough performance out of it (in a well rounded way...not just straight-line acceleration) to meet or beat the Z06's performance. I believe this is very doable for that kind of money. I doubt it would take a whopping 700+ rwhp to achieve the desired acceleration and top speed goals, so I don't need to spend the 20G on performance upgrades to get to that point as described for that other guy.
So....I believe I could have a "maxed out" Z for ~26G, including the cost of the car. If you want it MORE "maxed out", sure...dump more money into it....the sky's the limit...but, the way I look at it, if I can regularly run a Z06 up and down the street, I can take just about anything else thrown at me...and that's plenty "maxed out" for me....and it CAN be had for ~26G...or half the cost of a Z06
