Hello. I purchased an uncut ford key for my 2000 Ford Taurus. Can anyone tell me if I can have this key cut and programmed without paying hundreds of dollars?

Thanks

On March 5th of this year I purchased (from the Ford dealership) a spare PATS key and had it cut cut for our '99 Windstar at the same dealership here in Antigo, Wi. It cost me $14.95 plus tax and the salesman I dealt with a year earlier programmed it for us. I also had a spare "courtesy" key cut there (one that will open the doors and turn on the ignition but will not start the engine) for $2.00 (hide it under the vehicle just in case and keep the PATS key hidden inside). I had heard about the exessive prices being charged by the dealers too and was pleasantly surprised by the relatively low cost. I had looked at E-bay before that and almost made the mistake of buying from there. I believe PATS is the right terminology for Ford programmble keys, isn't it?
