Being a newbie I would like to know what paint you guys use to colour the rear lights and other lights that require colour on your kits. Do i need a spray can or can it be done with a brush as they are small parts.

Thanks

I did it with a brush. I use Testor turn signal clear red met. aor turn signal clear orange met. But that's the only colors I can get in my coutry besides Revell.

Welcome! with the clear parts, I use Humbrol clear red and orange, all applied by a fine brush, building up a few layers to get a solid clear.

Ooops, jberry3 - Welcome on AF! :)
I use enamel, becouse I can't get acryls over here.
But a lot of people suggest that painting with acryls is more simple.
Basicly it depends on the habbit of your previus 'paintings'. ;)

Tamiya's clear arcryllics (in bottles) also work well for painting lights. I just brush it on and it works fine. http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/paints/images/acrylic_chart.jpg (#'s 19-27)

Welcome to AF!

I airbrush my taillights. I use Tamiya's clear colors (acrylics).

The Humbrol paints are acrylic, I prefer them as the solid colour comes with less coats. i can't get Tamiya colours from LHS, so I have to live with what they have..

I tend to paint both sides it gives a better depth of colour and speeds up the process as you only paint once.

I paint just the back side.
It also depends what kind of a lights do you want eg. lexus style.

I just paint the back side of the light lens with Tamiya clear. Normally put on about 3 or 4 coats to build up a nice deep colour, then spray the exterior surfaces with clear lacquer for a really good shine.

I use Tamiya Clear red and Chrome Bare Metal Foil
