Do I need a new muffler???Mistyk_1313 04-14-2004, 10:04 PM I don't know what this noise is that my 90 Shadow has started to make recently. Whenever I accelerate is sounds like the engine is reving really high but it only reads the normal 2000 RPM..the faster I go the louder it gets. Is at its loudest around 50 KPH, then gets a bit quieter . I can also feel it rumble on the feet when sitting in the passenger seat. It has no effect on the performance of the car in any way, no loss of power. Just really annoying. I am rather novice when it comes to mechanics, so I havent checked into anything yet, just thought I would be an opinion or two before paying to get it checked out. Any ideas if this is simply a muffler in need of replacing or something worse. Wegmansdude 04-18-2004, 02:33 PM It sounds like your muffler, but it could be your manafold going. Mistyk_1313 04-19-2004, 10:43 AM Thanks...just an update on this situation... The noise only happens when the vehicle is in motion. When I rev up to 5000 in Park I hear nothing out of the ordinary.....My brother said could possible be a wheel bearing or wheel out of balance..... Yes/No???? DaYtOnAt2 04-27-2004, 04:52 PM Could be a bearing and it's NOT a good idea to rev to 5G when not under a load. You'll do more damage than I have time to type... :nono: Mistyk_1313 05-13-2004, 04:34 PM Update: It was the wheel bearing and the ball joint needed replacing as well. She is running as smooth as ever now!!!!!!!! Thanks to all for their advice/suggestions. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
