Submerged total engine housingcatch26 04-12-2004, 07:31 PM Well, lets just say I was on a golf course with a 1989 4X4 F-250 with the 5.8 EFI engine (the largest at the time, just below the diesel). Well anyways it ended up in the pond. I'm already having to pay some legal stuff but I need to know what I can do for the truck. I've taken off the oil filter and have been waiting for it to drain. Currently all oil is out from the oil filter and water is still dripping out. I will then move towards the oil pan. Not sure if this is an experience many of you have gone through but I need some help... :banghead: pind 04-13-2004, 02:12 AM drain the oil, and refill it, put a new filter on. Pull all the spark plugs, and crank it over til it blows all the water out of the cylinders. Put the plugs back in, run it for about a minute, drain the oil, repeat a few more times, new oil and filter each time. Might want to check the tranny, t-case, and diffs too, and most important, don't be a bonehead driver. Good luck. this should sove your problems...... ( or at least the mechanical ones :) catch26 04-16-2004, 01:35 AM Well I've drained the oil out, and there was surely water in there too. I have a new battery for it already so we'll see if the starter works or not. The water in there isn't exactly purified, it's from a pond. You can see how everything is brown. So I'm worried that the water that got into the engine consisted of quite a bit of dirt. Should I just give up and take it somewhere where they can rip apart the block and clean it out? Maybe just running new oil through it may do it, I hope oil is on sale, I'll need quite a bit. Also the cab filled with water all the way up to the windows. So everything on the dash was submerged. So how much do you think on that truck still works? It was in there for over an hour. I still don't even have a court date, I need help. catch26 04-16-2004, 01:49 AM o, I have to be honest. I'm 16. I'm into cars and I know how most things work, but not everything. I'm not someone who's spent a lot of time under the hood. So I'm kinda limited on that aspect of my education. That's why I need some serious help... 97chevyman 04-18-2004, 02:43 PM well, might have shorted out the PCM module. Check all of the fluids. Change the diff fluid tranny fluid and everything. Regrease the zerks. put some Marvels mystery oil or some sort of oil in the cylenders, just to prevent top end scoring. Flush the oil alot, once you get it running, take it down to the local car wash and clean all of that dirt out from under there. catch26 06-06-2004, 11:31 PM Well some progress done. New starter and starter relay. Drained oil then refilled also shot oil down where spark plugs were to prevent corrosion. I have power running through it now! I need to charge a battery. Running on low volts. It will help to get that done. Got in the other day and turned the ignition. It sounded like the engine turned once and in doing so shot some water out from the left side of the block from where I took out the spark plugs. Just to get the engine back on it's feet, I was told that once I was able to start it, to put diesel and an oil mixure (about 4 to 1) and start it. Not to actually drive it but to run it for about 5 minutes and all the nasty dirt from the water will flush out when drained. Also my power windows still work. Power locks....not quite as much. Still working on it. Payed $535 to repair liner on the bottom of the lake at the golf course. Have $3,000 water bill coming up for draining it and refilling. Plus the fence (that I ripped out with the hitch to get in) bill and the labor bill for the workers who had to go out and fix up the greens. June 21 is the court date for Vandalism over $400 (felony). Working to get that dropped down to a misdemeanor. One day at a time. One day at a time. catch26 06-13-2004, 01:11 AM What exactly is the PCM module and where would I find it? Digital Oxygen 06-14-2004, 12:34 AM Powertrain Control Module. The Vehicle's Computer. Generally, FORD likes to put them in the Passenger Side Kickpanel. But They may have changed that on the F series. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
