quick shift kit question

my friend has a 94 z28 automatic, hes heard good things about shift kits and hes thinkin bout gettin one..question- what exactly to they do, i know one of the things they do is make your tranny shift harder (autos shift smoothly because before they shift, they are actually in two gears), the harder a tranny shifts the longer it lasts. does it do anything else? like increase speed?

yes, it does increase speed, and reduce times, reduces trans temps cuz the trans dosnt slip for so long. the main reason they shift soft is for comfort, the general public dont like short snappy shifts, so they are sofened up for mass approval.

Pair up a transgo shiftkit with a corvette servo, and you've got yourself one hell of a 1-2 shift..
The only downfall is that those incredably hard shifts cause a lot of strain on your rear end, and the tranny itself..
Ive seen a few guys shreddin' their rear end's shortly after building up a tranny..

wow, shift kits are pretty cool...speaking of transmission temperature, can you buy a thermometer for it so you can watch it while driving?

boobs is boobs (for some people)...you guys ever seen that dude that got breast implants?!?! that was freakin hilarious
but on to the question at hand, yes you can buy a trans temp gauge that should come with the sensor that you mount in the trans pan. its actually a very good gauge to get, one easy way to see a trans problem coming is by how hot she runs...

yeah i got a B&M transkit, full rebuild kit with clutches, bands, and filter, everything for a rebuild, with the shift kit included with it, and directions, i threw a corvette 1-2 servo in for good measure. had it built by a trans specialist, and have never looked back :) cept to look at my smoke cloud of vaporized rubber :)

one that has absolutly no "perkiness", it hangs, and is flat, with no firmness, just a floppy, flat, limp boob.

the last time I checked, this thread was about shift kits, NOT BREASTS! Now breasts are one of the most beautiful things that God has given a woman, they werent put in transmissions. Now please lets get back to trannys and stop talking about tits!

Now, id say that you should atleast get a corvette servo. They are beautiful things for your tranny. They are cheaper than shift kits and should be standard in all 700R4's.

Chevyracincamaro

i think someone should invent a transmission that works on breasts...

If all 700-R4's used the same servo as the vette', thered be too many complaints.. The tranny drags the shift to keep the ride smooth, consistant, and comfortable...
But breasts happened to be the topic of the hour... All the questions from the orignial post have been answered havent they? no sense in sayin whats already been said..

First of all, its a camaro. You buy the car for performance and not for ride. That would be like bringing a stock festiva to a drag strip to race a top fuel racer.
Second of all, this is a car forum, not a breast forum. If you want to talk about titties go to the coffe break section of af and not here.

Hey. From what i understand basically what a shift kit does is reroute transmission fluid some way or another and that makes your transmission shift harder. In addition to making you shift harder, it also makers your car shift ar higher RPMS, essentially holding the lower gear longer.. thats where the faster part comes in. Another thing to think about is if you have a decent transmission shop in your area... you can take out and adjust a few ball bearings in your tranny and get the exact same results, but you need a good transmission guy to do it.
Hope this helpe

Rob

orangutan boob, that was friggin hilarious. i have a meaningful question though, will a trans cooler help a drivetrain that hasnt been built up atleast last longer? maybe not the drivetrain so much as the tranny itself, if i start beating the hell out of my 700 and a cooler will let allow it to last longer that might be a worthwhile mod before i have to rebuild the whole thing to stand up tot he abuse.

DaMoNe6969
04-19-2004, 07:49 PM
Depends on how good your tranny is now... If its already gettin' tired, a tranny cooler isnt gonna prolong the life much..
But if youve got a strong tranny, and you drive the car pretty hard, a tranny cooler will definatly help it last longer..
