$150g's to spend on a car.Zwrangler 04-12-2004, 06:24 AM a friend of mine has $150,000 U.S. to spend on a car, what should he get?? he doesn't really have any preferences to sports cars or sedans or whatever.......... i'm telling him to get either a ferrari or a mercedes SL55, what would you get? and don't say save the money coz his dad is buying this car for him anyway so its not like he'd save any money for himself anyway. freakonaleash1187 04-12-2004, 07:39 AM i would also say get a ferrari. either a f-355 or f-360. but when they buy the car, i hope they can afford to keep it running (i.e. insurance, tags, etc.). Zwrangler 04-12-2004, 09:49 AM lol, trust me he can afford to insure pretty much any car :p only problem with a ferrarri is it would be scary to park it anywhere but with the S55's they're pretty common in this country so they wouldn't be too bad to leave parked somewhere. freakonaleash1187 04-12-2004, 05:49 PM put cameras on it!!! that would be so awesome, having little cameras on a ferrari to catch people. moslerporschefreak 04-12-2004, 06:51 PM Uhhh, this again goes down to preference, but I would suggest the 996 TT if he wants a car that he wont feel awkward driving around town a lot. If he's close to some hills or good places to speed and in town isn't the biggest priority, I would suggest the Gallardo. But then again, when you get to 150g's really utility is out the window, so tell him to buy every issue of evo magazine for the last year and read up on the subjective anaylsis of the cars in this price range. Also, never under estimate the power of two cars. For 150k you could buy a Lotus Elise for some insane highway and road driving while taking a Noble M12 GTO-3R for the track. With the 40k that he still has he could swap the enigne in the Noble and make it a mean track car. Oh, and still have enough change to build a kickass garage for his two new beauts. :iceslolan Zwrangler 04-13-2004, 03:34 AM lol, yeah the Noble M12 would be amazing........ sadly i think he's getting a brabus spec mercedes.... hes already had 2 and both got totalled in accidents, but he likes em so i think he's stuck in his way for now. he's got no imagination if you ask me but its up to him. freakonaleash1187 04-13-2004, 07:42 AM he already wrecked to brabus's?!?!?! he shouldn't be able to drive anymore, at least nice expensive cars. or he should learn to drive before he gets a nice car. J_Swigz 04-13-2004, 02:08 PM He should get what he's happy with. Asking other people what you should get or what another person should get is a bit stupid. moslerporschefreak 04-13-2004, 04:41 PM I agree, in fact I glad that Zwrangler, you posed this question, not your friend. If I had 150g's to spend, I would hate to ask someone for their advice because in this price range especially people tend to pick their favorites and other people's opinions may just dampen your friend's enjoyment of getting his new car. chevydrummer76 04-13-2004, 06:07 PM totalled 2 cars? tell him to get 150,000 dodge caravans Zwrangler 04-14-2004, 02:33 AM totalled 2 cars? tell him to get 150,000 dodge caravans lol, funny thing about those two wrecked brabus mercs.... the first one was left when he left it parked and as rare as it is, another identical merc with the same coulor and specs came and smashed into it, writing off both in the process. The odd thing is that both these cars are rare as hell and yet this is what happened :p the second one is having bad problems and he's finding it hard to repair and maintain it coz theres only 2 of its kind in the country so thats why he wants to sell it now and get another merc. youngvr4 04-14-2004, 05:47 AM personally if i had that kinda money, i'd buy the FORD GT :evillol: otherwise i'd buy a supra tt and a 99 3000gt vr4 put 25 grand into both and still have money left over. IKILLRICERS 04-18-2004, 09:51 PM Dude ford GT man. i know a person whos dad is getting one GDK 04-19-2004, 10:32 PM F' the GT man, with $150,000 I would buy the Shinoda R32 GTR for $26,000. Then import through motorex for like $10,000 or whatever. And then I would have a 600whp Stripped street legal (well in some states) GTR that, in the rare occurence of a race, would leave the Ford GT being a raped ape. Then I would buy a couple used Porches and Bimmers. :evillol: :evillol: :evillol: :evillol: mrewster 04-27-2004, 09:33 PM Have him call Cadillac and see if they'll sell him one o'these: http://www.fantasycars.com/gallery/Cars/Cadillac/2002%20Cien/cien_6.jpg Cadillac Cien 7.5 L V12-DOHC, 4 valves/cylinder 750.0 bhp/450.0 ft lbs torque 6-Speed Semi-Automatic trans. moslerporschefreak 04-28-2004, 08:30 PM Wasn't that car created (in concept form) a little while ago? I seem to remeber for some reason running across it in a google search a long time ago. Then again, I'll also go ahead and state the obvious, it would cost over 150g. freakonaleash1187 04-28-2004, 09:03 PM yeah, the cien is strictly a concept car. and personally, it looks like cadillac was trying too hard. mrewster 04-28-2004, 09:07 PM Wasn't that car created (in concept form) a little while ago? I seem to remeber for some reason running across it in a google search a long time ago. Then again, I'll also go ahead and state the obvious, it would cost over 150g. Uh, yeah-concept car, not for sale (at least not now). I have heard rumors that the V-12 that's in it is being tested, supposedly they built around 150 of them-much more than a concept type production run, I'd say. crashtestdummy4 04-30-2004, 05:14 PM The new Ford GT Demon_Mustang 05-05-2004, 03:45 AM $150k, that's a perfect price, you all know I am going to recommend the Ford GT, lol. :iceslolan moslerporschefreak 05-05-2004, 06:30 PM $150k, that's a perfect price, you all know I am going to recommend the Ford GT, lol. :iceslolan Yeah, that wasn't exactly from left field. But still, I would stick with the Lotus Elise/modified Noble M12 GT0-3R package. Whereas the ford GT is both fast on a track and docile enough for the streets, the Lotus was made for street driving (and is arguably the most enjoyable on the streets) and the Noble M12 GT0-3R was made for the track. And yes, the noble is faster around the track than the GT. Or at least every possible indication leads to that conclusion (what I mean is that since no direct comparison has been done it is impossible to possively verify that). DinanM3_S2 05-05-2004, 09:34 PM Judging by the fact that he had Brabus Mercs, im guessing he wants something that combines speed and luxury, and I know the M12 and the Elise are known for being rather uncomfortable cars. Not exactly sure about the GT, but it just doesnt seem like an ex-mercedes owner's car. I would go with a nicely equipped Porsche 996 or a GT3. Both are very nice and very fast cars. Or if he wanted something a little calmer (choke) he should look into a ABD modified RS6 or a Dinan M5/M6 (once they come back out). Demon_Mustang 05-06-2004, 12:01 AM Well obviously I don't really know the guy, I'm less recommending it for him, and more dreaming it for myself, lol. moslerporschefreak 05-06-2004, 06:42 PM Well obviously I don't really know the guy, I'm less recommending it for him, and more dreaming it for myself, lol. That's the angle that I'm pretty much taking on this issue. Afterall, if the guy's made up his mind then why hasn't this thread been closed. I think that after the first 5-6 posts it really became a "what would you spend 150g's on" thread. So the elise m12 combo is what I would choose. 2stangs 05-17-2004, 02:27 AM 2005 Ford GT, change the supercharger to a Kenne Bell Blowzilla at very high boost. Nough said!!! moslerporschefreak 05-17-2004, 06:49 PM 2005 Ford GT, change the supercharger to a Kenne Bell Blowzilla at very high boost. Nough said!!! See to me, I wouldn't be very eager to start swapping parts on a 150k dollar car. If it's something like an RUF or Sportec package, sure. But I'd be afraid to screw somthing up or put an untested part on that beaut. Oh well, to each his own  Doug Rodrigues 05-17-2004, 08:44 PM $150,000 for a car? Good grief! You can buy a brand new 4 seat airplane for less than that! In some parts of Nevada, you can buy a brand new 3 bedroom home, too! Demon_Mustang 05-17-2004, 11:26 PM Yah, but the nearest supermarket will be like 42 miles away... :iceslolan aznxthuggie 05-18-2004, 03:14 AM i think with 150k, i would buy a civic, because everyone bags on it, make it faster than any car out there, and piss everyone off because i burn them at the track, at the stop light, on the freeway, lol u name it the 150k civic will burn you all WAHAHAHAH Doug Rodrigues 05-18-2004, 03:28 AM Hey, that's what actor Steve McQueen did for kicks. He used to have an old beat-up VW bug with a souped-up Porche engine. He'd go to where the night time illegal drag races were and blow everybody's doors off. veyron 16/4 05-18-2004, 02:33 PM would be one hell of a sleeper vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
