I can't seem to find the pic of the garage that has an LM in the foreground and a burgundy road car and Ferrari (?) in the background.

Please post or email it if you have it

Thanks

Chris

thank you sir :)

btw, did we find out who's cars these were? Morrison?

No proof - just speculation - given that is an LM (and not a bogus GTR look-alike) and that doesn't look like Japan or Brunei. Also, there is two other photos of Morrison's LM with a similar sized front plate in that same location. Plus the fact that he had a collection of nice Ferrari's sort of ties it all together. Shame there aren't more photos from where ever this one came from. I think jkbon was the first to post it too.

more photos of the lm in the location? Would you be kind enough to share those too? :D

No goofball - the other two photos are from those shots when it competed in the Gumball Rally.

I meant the location of the plate.

At first I thought this was Frank's collection, an LM with a dark colored F1 in the background.

Apologies if these have been posted before, i don't remember seeing them whilst i've been here.

An LM in an English location, so possibly when it was in the possession of Morrison?

No, that's very much out the back of McLaren Car's old location at units B2 and B3.

You will note that all the big vehicles (2 arctics, a double decker coach and a Mercedes Sprinter van) are all painted in a Mercedes silver.

Also, if you look really closely, you can see a McLaren Heritage employee in the background of picture 2.

thanks for the insight!
but it isn't wearing the XP1 lm badges on the sides though, do you have a clue on which car it is?

I was always under the impression that that car is LM03. I've had those pictures for a long time. That car has stickers on the front windscreen. Perhaps Mr. Bernoulli can confirm that they are a form of UK registration?

Don't know what the top the top one refers to but the bottom one appears to be a UK tax disc such as this:

never mind, it's probably lm3 though because neither of the two other orange LM's have ever been registered in england to my best knowledge, anyone disagrees?

presumably bruneii.. we at least know that the 2 black lm's reside there..

I thought that this was LM3 because of that little sliding thing on the window...that thing is in the video of LM3 with all the Gumball stickers on it.

When I saw the pics I immediately assumed it was LM03. Just because really.

It would be nice to shed some light on that third LM, but until we get a picture of a chassis plaque, I guess we’ll always be speculating.

Sigh.....

Ps. How much faith do people have on the legitimacy of supercars.net? According to a post there Mclaren apparently paid £3million to get an LM back into their hands. Doesn't seem plausible.

Yeh, your defiantly on to something there. Hadn't noticed that and seeing as it has now been removed we defiantly know that LM03 has been with and without that window.

The photo that started this thread (in the collection) we believed may have been LM03, the left side door is clearly visible and there is no window there. That either means that is not LM03 or it is and the side window was added later, after the picture was taken or was removed before the photo and before being sold. Drew can probably answer the question as to whether it was in place before frank took ownership, or if frank had it removed at his request.

It still nothing concrete but........

All of the LMs had that I believe. The owner can choose between the solid window or the sliding unit. I think Frank likes it without as I have never seen the car with them on. He probably took them off to make the car more aerodynamic. With them he wouldn't be able to get over 210....

what about their legality in the US, the car did not have them when it was brought in.

I have no idea on that. Don't some F40s have sliding Lexan windows?

maartenvanthek~ based on what?

Im pretty sure lm03 competed in the gumball 3000 (not this year).
thats where those pics are from cause I rocognize the transport truck from the gumball a couple of years ago.

Based on where I found them. My credibility around here should be good enough for you to trust me on it. ;)

And jcsaleen - Mr Bernoulli already identified the location where these photos were taken:

"No, that's very much out the back of McLaren Car's old location at units B2 and B3."

My guess is that these photos were taken around the time that LM03 was sold to Mr. Selldorff. Maybe he knows a bit more about these shots?

Going back a bit...

What about the orange LM we don't know about? Frank has 1, 1 is in Japan but what about the other orange one?

Two sources who would know, but prefer to remain behind the scenes, have confirmed to me that the third orange LM also went to Brunei. I have mentioned this before in other posts identifying the locations of the LMs. If you want to consider it 'unknown' that's fine with me, but I'm highly confident there are three LMs in Brunei...

....and two of them are "Black + graphics" too. :p

btw, i think its so sad that 3 of the 5 lm's went to Brunei and are probably rotting away right now. The 2 black cars i can understand, but another orange one. Such a waste. They will probably not make it out, and if they do, they will need A LOT of work done to them

MalkaJB

Why's that.

They're probably just sitting in one of the Sultans air conditioned garages.

Peloton25
04-30-2004, 12:20 AM
A lot of the cars there have supposedly been neglected. Even a McLaren that sits in an air conditioned garage is going to need quite a bit of maintenance to be restored to like-new condition once someone decides to make use of it.

Incidentally, those photos I have ID'd as LM03 were supposedly taken on 2/11/2001. Maybe that date coincides with when the car was offered for sale?

I don't think the McLarens are neglected. The owners have said that, no matter what, they will never be offered for sale. So they are obviously prized possessions, even for people used to handing out Airbuses as birthday gifts. I would think that they are some of the few possessions not being neglected, and are indeed receiving adequate maintenance.

Well I was thinking February 11th Maarten, but I guess in the part of the world where these photos were taken they do write the date "backwards" like that. I wonder which one it really is...

Why's that.

They're probably just sitting in one of the Sultans air conditioned garages.

That what people say. The truth is that most of the cars aren't. A lot of the cars are out in the open or under a temporary roof. There are not warehouses as such, they are pretty much like 2 story parking lots. Thats where the nice one-offs are. A lot of the cars ARE in bad condition. I would share more but i can't

Peloton25
04-30-2004, 03:59 PM
I've heard similar bad stories, but I can't confirm they're all true. I do know that many of the people who were there taking care of the cars were sent home a long time ago. :(

I remember the story of a F1 in USA which stay in the street? It stay all time at the same place ?

Erik. The stories you have heard are probably true. The cars that were under the temp. roof and un-useable, the ones not under a roof are simply rust. Most were nice too, Benz's tuned and with nice interiors
