87 toyota celice GT convertible question(s)REBEL08021 04-10-2004, 01:00 PM Hey folks new to the community here. I bought a beautiful red 87 toyota celica GT convertible and it runs great with only 72K (showing) Does anyone have any great specific links they can supply me so I can get some specific and general specs for this model ? Thanks for any help you can lend to my quest. iceecellica 04-23-2004, 06:12 PM First I would learn how to spell Celica... then i would get rid of the one you have... cause... to be honest w/ you... they are fuckin ugly... seriously... sorry... but you know its true... REBEL08021 04-25-2004, 10:46 AM First I would learn how to spell Celica... then i would get rid of the one you have... cause... to be honest w/ you... they are fuckin ugly... seriously... sorry... but you know its true... Well excuse me for the typo. How nice of you to point out my mistake and your wonderfull follow on to that correction I find it offensive and not called for. I thought this was a forum deisgned to help people. I guess the old saying "do onto others as you would have them do onto you" does not apply in your case. Or better yet "If you have nothing nice to say you should say nothing at all". iceecellica 04-25-2004, 02:08 PM Its still ugly,.... cph99x 04-25-2004, 02:36 PM Its still ugly,.... Dude, that was pretty sh*ty rippertoy 04-25-2004, 07:50 PM Hey I also own one badass 88 Celica convertible. They are one of my fav's. They reak of STYLE and CLASS that no other Celica has or shows. It has a look of refinement. Look around at some sites and you'll see some incredibly nice 86-89 converts that, if you did know any better, you would have no idea that they are Celica's. I am sorry that the KID who was rude, had his piece of CELICA bought for him by his MOMMY and DADDY. He obviously has no appreciation of what Celica owners are all about. The converts are in a class all their own, so I see how the jealous little loser could replay in such a way. Anyway, You have bought a rare car, especially if it is in really good shape. I'll be back later to help ya out, I just saw how INFANTILE a fellow Celica owner was being and felt bad for his sorry insignificant little momma's boy remark. Rip on!!!!!!!!!!! Unless you have something to add to the conversation, i.e. NOT insulting towards another members vehicle, don't say anything. At all. The next post I see from you that is rude, such as the one above will not have good results. iceecellica 04-26-2004, 01:02 PM :)ok iceecellica 04-26-2004, 01:04 PM Yea, my mommy bought it for me.. so, leaves me all the money i had saved for a car, to put into it... big deal.... freakray 04-26-2004, 04:36 PM Yea, my mommy bought it for me.. so, leaves me all the money i had saved for a car, to put into it... big deal.... Please desist, you have been warned. REBEL08021 04-26-2004, 09:46 PM Thanks for jumping in folks. After I responded I looked up info on the person replying to find out he (assuming he) is all of 16 years old. I should have realized by the response being somewhat infantile that I was dealing with a youngin'. Ironically I have a son almost his age so while I can say I understand I do not really based on what I was asking for. Anyhow I am still looking for any good advice/links anything of relevance to the Toyota's from this ERA. I am curious about parts and commonality across multple years for serviceable parts. As far as I can tell all I need do is repair the hydraulic pump (assuming that is whats wrong) as well as replace the electric antennae and she should be ready for the road. Thanks again for jumping in and all or any leads will be looked into. iceecellica 04-27-2004, 12:59 PM My bad man, I really shouldnt have been such an asshole, my appologies... rippertoy 04-27-2004, 04:08 PM Hey I am back. 1st thing to remember when searching on web or for parts is the specs Engine: "3SFE" Chassis: "ST162" even when you go to "jiffy lube" they ask which engine, and you will look smart by saying "It's the 3sfe" Alot of people just call this style the "st162" A good place for parts is http://www.toyautoparts.com/CEL-GT-009_1988_parts.html There are very few "aftermarket" parts. these cars are highly rated to this day. 1987-89 Among "Best Buys" by Consumer’s Digest to see some really nice 4th generation convert's go to http://www.toyotacelicas.com/memberpics/4th_gen.html#static or to see 1 just like yours go to members.cardomain.com/breztoy I know this is not alot of info "so far" but lets help each other out in finding the "good deals". Remember to search for "toyota st162" when surfing the net. See ya.. iceecellica 04-28-2004, 12:58 PM There are actually nice lookin conv.'s, my bad for talkin smack REBEL08021 04-28-2004, 09:03 PM It's all good icecellica. No harm no fowl. I was a little reactive to what I viewed as an attack, but I got over it quickly. The only thing I don't like about the appearance is when the headlight are up it looks funny from inside the car when looking down the hood, but I will say without dressing it up at all it does turn the ladies heads!! And to you my new found friend rippertoy, Thanks for the links. Also keep in mind EBAY is a good spot for parts cheap, but you gotta look at folks ratings to see how they are as a seller with regards to feedback. I both sell and buy there and it has been a great source of stuff for me. If you know what years of the cars have compatible parts it is also helpful, because if you limit the search to just your year and model on ebay you cut off your nose despite your face. I was aware of the 3sfe type engine, but was not aware if the Chassis style so thanks for that!! I will advise if I find any good sites for parts as well. Thanks again bud!! Check this link out too. At least you can get oem part numbers off of it. Looks like 87-89 have the same engine types too. While they may not be cheap they may help ID parts easier. http://www.overnightautoparts.com 00 Blk Celica GT-S 04-28-2004, 10:18 PM thats only thing i dont like bout old school celi's is the pop ups, if there was a front end to replace it without pop ups, i'd think bout gettin one iceecellica 04-28-2004, 10:27 PM I am going to try do do my own conversion kit... to like 6th gen or if i try to go big.. maybe 7th gen... might be a little tough tho.. gotta think it through a little more.. 00 Blk Celica GT-S 04-28-2004, 10:30 PM i saw in a magazine an invader kit from 7th gen for a 5th gen car. i'll have to look into it for you 00 Blk Celica GT-S 04-28-2004, 10:31 PM but it still had the flip ups and the gray vent deal 00 Blk Celica GT-S 04-28-2004, 10:37 PM you'd have to custom fenders, bumper, and hood to fit different lights i'd just get a newer model kit and shave some different lights in it iceecellica 04-29-2004, 10:54 PM no you wouldnt...not if you have a torch cutter welding machine and grinder.... I'm gettin alittle perturbed w/ you... you keep asking where you can get the parts and stuff... and you dont even have a celica "yet"... you told me yourself... whats the deal man? shouldnt you be more worried about gettin your celica instead of all the parts for the car you "want"?... iceecellica 04-29-2004, 10:55 PM Sorry, I just read your post again, it would be costomizing the hood... maybe some other stuff... but idontknow 00 Blk Celica GT-S 05-01-2004, 02:08 AM dude i got the money for the car, its in the lower 48's, im just waiting to get down there to get it becuase of military shipping purposes. the reason i ask for the stuff is so once i get the car, i can get it fixed up, and i will have plenty extra after the car to buy parts. 00 Blk Celica GT-S 05-01-2004, 02:08 AM besides im 15 and i got time to continue saving for even more stuff iceecellica 05-01-2004, 10:12 PM How are you envolved with the military? 00 Blk Celica GT-S 05-02-2004, 02:36 AM father is air force. and im in alaska J_Swigz 05-02-2004, 01:37 PM Are you by chance located near or at Elmendorf AFB?
