MY 1/4 times

alright guys...went up to the closest track near me (90 miles away).
it was my first time, so i didn't do too hot.
it was completely different than the street cuz theres like 500% more traction, so instead of peeling out, i bounced alot the first couple of times.
anyways, for my first time, i don't think i did too bad.
Runs - Time - what i screwed up
==================================
1- 16.9 - missed second, hit rev limiter before hitting third (i was nervous!)
2- 16.7 - missed third for a split second
3- 18.1 - crazy spinning and bouncing off the line, horrible r/t, missed 2nd and 3rd
4- 15.8 - my best run, probably should've floored it faster out of the line and waited a lil more into the redline to shift
5- 16.0 - short shift into 3rd
I would've probably gotten another 2 or 3 runs, and i was ready to hit at least 15.5 (i wasn't nervous anymore), but they canceled the event due to rain (freaking florida). I'm sure that if i was able to do 15.8 the way i was driving a really low 15 is possible. my mods are in my sig. oh well, i'll get them next time ;)

Damn man, you were REALLY nervous!!
15.8 and 18.1 SHIT!...thats too far off, is your tranny fucked up? how come you missed gear so oftenly. When I have been racing ive only missed gear one time, out of probably 70 races or so...and my times have only fluctuated around .5 seconds at the maximum. You need some practice to drop some consistent times. It was good that you went, youll be doing better next time.
And a suggestion, if you are going to be nervous, drink some beers or some tequila shots to calm down, youll get better times with some drinks on you son.
Just Kidding...no drinking and driving. Good Luck.

lol...i don't scrape the gears, i just don't put them where they are supposed to. like bringing it down to 2nd, and hitting the seperator between 2nd and 4th. i never actually hit a gear, made it grind, and got spit out, it was just me being nervous and not concentrating on what i was doing

Ideally, if you take your car to a dyno, you can find the best spot to shift. When your torque curve starts to fall off is when you should shift.
Good times for your first try.

Don't know about the prelude's but for the integra's it is typically 400-600 rpm before the redline. This could be a starting point for you if you don't want to take it to the dyno.

a little below redline works best, in most cases.
another tip for ya. when you shift, don't bring your foot of the gas at all, and slam down the clutch and shift simulaniously (very quickly). it will boost your rpms (in the prior gear) heading into the next gear with more rpms. try it once and see if it works for you. everyones style is different. i personally don't use the clutch at all... however that is not good for your trans at all.

Yes that is terrible for the tranny, it is called power shifting. If you care about your car and you want it to last then I would advise not to do it. Or if you do then get some synthetic tranny fluid for the tranny. Power shifting causes alot more heat build up in the tranny, and the fluid acts like coolant as well as lubricant. Stock fluid or any type of stock replacement etc fluid will be broken down rapidly under conditions like those. Get some mobil 1 or redline etc for the tranny. But even then it still takes a hard beating on the tranny.
