with all these itr's around i figured i whould post my project that been going on for a few days now. i know that i have been posting in-progress cars and not finishing them latly but i have just lost intrest in those kits, lol. so far i did a front end conversion , it has a amt fnf eclipse front end on the revell integra body it also has rear skirts from fnf eclipse the side skirts are styrene strips. it alrady had one coat of putty that was sanded down smotth but it had some spots that needed to fixed so the putty went back on. im trying to graft the front of the eclipse hood to the back of the integra hood so it fits right. it will have a turbo bmw engine in it, slammed on ashomia 19inch rims. the underside of the car will be pretty much curbside with very little detial if any at all. the interior will be pretty much stock with the exeption of custom colors and seats and maybe a nitrous tank or 2. hope you like it so far, i am starting to get the hang of this putty stuff after 1 year of practice.

that went together suprisingly well.
take some advise with the bondo spot glaze, if that's what that is, let t dry for aslong as possible. when you sand it keep your paper wet and sand slow. this always helps me from having to reapply to fill small imperfections in the putty.
Keep it up, hope your motivated to finish.

spot putty sucks it crack, it is not easy to mold with....... squadron putty works nice. i only used to use spot putty for fixxing bondo imperfections

First off I would like to point out your putty work. The putty you are using appears to be Bondo Spot/Glazing putty. I am in the body industry and this putty is being completely misused. Spot/Glazing putties are intended to fix extremely minor imperfections in [body] filler work. When a large putty job is required a two part putty is highly reccomended (often the one part putties with no catalyst are often used to repair minor imperfections in large filler areas). Just as a future heads-up. I'm not trying to sound like an ass, or jump down your throat; just trying to steer people in the right direction.

Overall, pretty cool build!

first of all, supermod squadron putty sucks ass man if you useing that stuff to make boddy kits then you might want to expect it to look like shit, second do you speak english? cuz if you do you need to go back to school "spot putty sucks it crack" that did not make any sence to me.

mike,
im not useing the putty for large mods it mostly there to fill somall pit holes that where all over from useing squadron, in the pics it looks like alot of putty but its really not its very thin. thanks for the nice comments guys.

Dont worry about supermod, hes not a very good speller (not to mention his poor use of english grammar).

As far as the putty, it looked like you were using globs, and globs of it. I have seen people try to build body kits out of it.

Any updates???

hey guys, all i use is spot glaze putty! i never wet the sand paper or anything. do you guys see anything wrong with my stuff? i dont. i just sand at first with 250 then when i start to get close to the plastic i use 400 to smooth it out and feather whatever it is in that im doing.i also never have to wait more than 10 minutes for dry time if u keep it thin, but that might be because i live in florida!

cmon i want updates!

Mike is right bondo spot putty is for filling small areas. and really dont work well, it sands OK. squadron putty works well infact. it is strong, the green is the best, it turns to rock. plus i dont make body kits becuase 1, i dont do many imports and domestics with body kits look horrible. i have done 2 imports and i used squadron putty, i made a WB Hatch and a civic but i dont have the kits anymore.

Thats cool JDM i read your post about being in a bad modds i totaly see how you fell

the teg is looking great so far.

Mike, yea i do type fast and mess up, lets just not post the same thing in every post. Thanks!!

well i got alot of sanding and fillling and priming done and it looked so good so i decided to paint it and get that out of the way, well after painting some imperfections showed up, so now the car is in the brake fluid i hope it strips the putty also so i can just start over. but i do have some pics of it before it hit the brake fluid.

well i think this project is realy good, and i cant wait to see more of it.
paint looks realy good and its a shame that your having to strip it but keep on pushing and you will have the car you want!

keep the idea in your head and dont let anyone change it

thanks man,
any one got any idea how to make a hood? i tried making one out of styrene but that dident work to well, lol. the stock one no longer fits, what should i do? this project is probley gonna be stripping for 2-3 days to get all the putty off. so you guys get to see my lexus im bout to start a thread on, i took everyones advice and expermented on it did panel lines and black rubber around the windows and a mirror finish paint job so i will be proude to show it off.

Looking pretty good! For the hood I say modify the stock Integra hood or Stock Eclipse hood, that is what I do for conversions.

A little OT but as far as putty concerns. If you need a putty that is inexpensive, strong, and dries fast, try out some Evercoat Eurosoft.

jdmhotrod
04-11-2004, 08:36 PM
the cost of the putty is no concern, i just like working with the bondo. the progress will not update till maybe thursday or friday guys. it is almost fully stpipped and then i can restart the putty process.

Jdm, that looks real good. As far as your hood goes, don't use one, or try to modify the teg and eclipse one.
