Hi, I just purchased a 98 accord ex and have a couple of ? for current accord owners.
I previouosly drove an 88 civic, both of the above mentioned are 5 speed manual trans.
the civic had a nice smooth and quiet shift,
the accord however seems to be (forgive my descript) a bit noisy.
not the trans. itself but the shift lever, when you move it it seems a bit more clunky sounding than what I would expect from a "newer" car,
so my ?? is, could this be a mech prob. or are the accord shift levers noisy?? this was the one and only accord man trans that I had test drove, so I have nothing to compare it to. If this is a mech. prob what would cause this??I hope someone can answer this cause its driving me nuts and I really dont want to go to a garage "looking" for problems. thankyou in advance.

Don't worry. Nothing is wrong with the car. That's normal. When shifting gears (especially if the radio is off) you will hear a slight clunky noise in the shifter. Mine is the same way. I think the only way to get rid of that noise is to get a short shifter. I'm looking into a B&M short shifter
