What causes a 89 Buick Lesabre EGR Valve to melt?

Hey everyone. My dad and I have been stumped about our car. It's a 1989 Buick LeSabre. The EGR valve has melted. It started doing this almost a year ago. We've gone through 3 EGR valves since that time. We've replaced the ECM, ignition module, alternator...we have NO idea what is causing the problem. We took it to GM and we thought they fixed the problem but it ended up costing $500 and they didn't solve the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

look up 1998 buick lasabre recalls...same problem there....it has to do with gasoline pressure value and there is a recall on it right now....

Even though it's a 1989 Buick, 1998 Buicks have the same problem? Do you mean a gasoline pressure valve and not a gasoline pressure value? I don't find a gasoline pressure valve on a 1989 Buick.
