hey, i put on a leather shift boot in my s13. it's not hard...but it's kinda confusing how to orient the boot to put it on. My boot was a generic elastic edged one, hopefully yours is too. The original boot was connect to a white plastic frame, which I cut (more like ripped) the boot from. Make sure you know how this frame should be oriented in relation to the car trim that it is screwed onto. Now you have 2 options: put the boot over the screw holes and (using a red hot paper clip or something) burn holes through the leather where the holes should be. Or, do what I did and puzzle out how to orient the boot so that it doesn't completely cover the the screw holes and isn't sticking out inside out. I think you have to turn the boot inside out and wrap the elastic over the edge of the bracket, but push it back with your fingers while screwing the screws back into the frame and trim. It'll be a tight fit but it will hold.

I dun know, I can't even tell what the hell I'M saying. I think I'm making it sound more complicated than it actually should be. Maybe you can. All I can say is....puzzle it out yourself. It took me about 15 mins to figure out how to do it and like 2 secs to install once I did.

i'm pretty sure you have to flip it inside out, then use a zip tie at one point, then just fold it over the shifter

just twist it. It is screwed on. hold the top and side of the shift knob and twist counter-clockwise. No wonder you couldn't get the shift boot off...you still have the shift knob on...

the shift knobs are on there tight as hell... sometimes you need to wrap it with a towell and put vice grips on it ... i didn't have to but im pretty strong, lol

i c, are you still having problems getting the shift knob off? once you start to get it loosen, it is easy to get it off.
