Project: "Street Terror!" RHD converted ITR turbo w/ supercharger!!Mean_B16 04-06-2004, 07:41 PM Just what everybody needed to see, another ITR thread!!! :banghead: What can I say, I just love this car and kit. I am not sure how I will do the supercharger yet but the turbo is already in the works, since I have never seen a RHD conversion the right way, I feel like attempting my own. as you can see in the pics I switched positions of the battery and the clutch and brake m.cylinders. I am going for a lot of detail in the engine bay also including engine mounts and other parts left off the original. and since I have never attempted scissor doors or even opening doors for that matter I will be trying it on this kit. I am building this out of the Revell ITR spare parts box I have left over from the prior 8 kits I have purchased. I am not sure on the final look yet but I will be doing a body kit a drag style wing all painted red. other than that I do not know how this will turn out......hope you enjoy. http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=502/59032Project_ITR_turbo_1.jpg I promise I will get better pics soon, sorry so blurry http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=502/59032Project_ITR_turbo.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=502/59032Project_ITR_turbo_2.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=502/59032Project_ITR_turbo_3.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=502/59032Project_ITR_turbo_4.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=502/59032Project_ITR_turbo_5.jpg Blowncivic1320 04-06-2004, 07:44 PM HOT, i cant wait there is someone on here that sells the supercharger for the b16 motor...or u can pick up a ford lightning model and steal it from there it mite work pre98zetec 04-06-2004, 07:46 PM Cool:sunglasse Josh Mean_B16 04-06-2004, 07:48 PM HOT, i cant wait there is someone on here that sells the supercharger for the b16 motor...or u can pick up a ford lightning model and steal it from there it mite work Yeah i know who you are talking about (I can't remember his name though). I just built a Lightning also but I love how the SC is setup on it and I do not think I can bring my self to use it. Besides, I think I can build one with enough reference pics, I am currently thinking of ways to replicate the "fins" the supercharger has on it. I think if I can figure that out then I can build one pretty easy after that. Mean_B16 04-06-2004, 07:53 PM I just found this, this will be a good reference. http://www.jacksonracing.com/Graphics/Products/Large/jrw-989-500.jpg GTmike400 04-06-2004, 07:59 PM Its looking great so far! The doors look pretty good. The turbo charger looks good too. Didnt you attempt a RHD conversion on your del Sol about 8months ago? Mean_B16 04-06-2004, 08:06 PM Its looking great so far! The doors look pretty good. The turbo charger looks good too. Didnt you attempt a RHD conversion on your del Sol about 8months ago? Not quite, I actuallly concerted a RHD dash to LHD on the delsol, this time is alot different and pretty involved. supermod04 04-06-2004, 08:41 PM nice not bad, tell me the doors will work? GTmike400 04-06-2004, 08:42 PM Have you already done the RHD conversion? In the pictures I cant tell if: A) thats a dash from another kit B) You just flipped the picture C) You have already completed the operation If thats the modified dash in the pictures, you did a hell of a job. I never would have guessed you had already modified it, looks factory built. customminatures 04-06-2004, 08:52 PM looks damn good man! in a bit, im sure b4 u get to that part, i am building hinges for lambo doors! i can send u a set if u would like! might be a bit tho. after that i plan to cast them and sell! awesome work so far and good luck on the sc! 86_SR5 04-06-2004, 10:42 PM That's the Fujimi ITR RHD dash isn't it Mean? I did this already, however, I didn't move the battery, clutch and brake stuff, because not too many people would know anyway. ITR, Turbo, ... Mean_B16 04-07-2004, 05:01 PM To answer some questions: nice not bad, tell me the doors will work? I plan on making the doors work, I have yet to figure out exactly how I will design the hinges: I guess I need to talk to customminatures for advice? Have you already done the RHD conversion? In the pictures I cant tell if: A) thats a dash from another kit B) You just flipped the picture C) You have already completed the operation I stole it from my curbside ITR (fujimi I think) and had to sand a bit of the edges since it is a bit wider than the fujimi version. looks damn good man! in a bit, im sure b4 u get to that part, i am building hinges for lambo doors! i can send u a set if u would like! might be a bit tho. after that i plan to cast them and sell! awesome work so far and good luck on the sc! I would not mind seeing how you did your lambo hinges but if not I will figure something out! And as of last night I was able to find a base to build my SC with!!! your the man, this is gonna be sweet, although i never understood why you would do the rhd conversion on the usdm ITR if it has the usdm headlights? :skrewy: Becuase I have not seen it attempted like I am doing it and the engine bay looks more realistic in the Revell scale, if I stuffed the motor into the fujimi ITR it would look small due to the scale differences. besides I just felt inspired to do the round headlight version. 86_SR5 04-07-2004, 07:08 PM Mean...here's mine, I didn'tmove the stuff in the bay around tho. http://images.cardomain.com/member_images/5/web/449000-449999/449738_247_full.jpg http://images.cardomain.com/member_images/5/web/449000-449999/449738_249_full.jpg Mean_B16 04-07-2004, 10:03 PM Looks nice though I would love to see pics that are more clear. I remember your thread, after seeing all the RHD cars in super street and other magazines I have just been inspired to replicate one as much as I can pull off. I think maybe even Subconsciously your ITR thread helped motivate me to build mine, who knows :dunno: 86_SR5 04-07-2004, 10:29 PM Far as the pics...my camera sucks. But, the burnout was a cool pic to take. Good luck with yours. Mean_B16 04-09-2004, 10:22 PM Well I finally got the SC built! sorry the pics are so crappy, I am just not taking pictures when the light is right  But for the most part you can see what I have done. I went with the jackson racing SC style but w/o the name representation. I still need to add a fuel rail and more detail all before cleaning it up and painting. how is it coming along???? http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=502/59032Project_ITR_turbo_11.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=502/59032Project_ITR_turbo_10.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=502/59032Project_ITR_turbo_9.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=502/59032Project_ITR_turbo_8.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=502/59032Project_ITR_turbo_7.jpg http://http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=502/59032Project_ITR_turbo_6.jpg Feedback welcomed!! supermod04 04-09-2004, 10:33 PM Looks great hey for hinges, try useing a piece of metal thicker then a pepr clip but not to much, and create a U bend in it and make the U bend go upwards and mount it on the wipe area inside, some how liek that. start with a U bend ol' dude 04-09-2004, 11:01 PM Looking good so far, keep it going and us posted on progress!! Mean_B16 04-13-2004, 04:18 PM Well I finally figured out the lambo door setup, paper clips work wonders!!! the hinge was totally different that I had originally planned but it works beautifully, I may post a tutorial later on but I am not sure how this would work with any other models since I have not tried it yet. this project is definetely taking more time than I 1st thought but thats cool. right now I am trying to design a front end that justs fits with this car and I am a little stuck, hopefully it will come to me soon, till then here are more pics. http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=500/59032Project_ITR_turbo_17.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=500/59032Project_ITR_turbo_16.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=500/59032Project_ITR_turbo_15.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=500/59032Project_ITR_turbo_14.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=500/59032Project_ITR_turbo_13.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=500/59032Project_ITR_turbo_12.jpg More updates coming soon hopefully Blowncivic1320 04-13-2004, 04:56 PM looks real good, cant wait to see what u come up with for the front turbo type-r 04-13-2004, 05:52 PM sweet post that tutorial GTmike400 04-13-2004, 07:37 PM So far so good! 86_SR5 04-13-2004, 10:25 PM wicked. that's one honda I'd be scared of....(not) Mean_B16 04-14-2004, 10:19 PM wicked. that's one honda I'd be scared of....(not) is that sarcasm I sense!?? :dunno: rx7king 04-14-2004, 10:35 PM i love the doors :bigthumb: 86_SR5 04-14-2004, 11:01 PM is that sarcasm I sense!?? :dunno: Kinda. Altho I may be beaten down by many integras with the SR5, I'm still not scared to take them on. Keep up the great work mean. Mean_B16 07-04-2004, 02:59 PM Well I have finally started back on my ITR project. I have finally settled down enough after moving that I have been able to refocus again. The door jams are really time consuming to make them look convincing and I still do not know exactly how the body kit will look before I am done. I am just making it up as I go along. http://www.phamworks.com/~jacksoncreation/forum/album_pic.php?pic_id=256 http://www.phamworks.com/~jacksoncreation/forum/album_pic.php?pic_id=255 http://www.phamworks.com/~jacksoncreation/forum/album_pic.php?pic_id=254 I am not sure if I am going with this wing or not, it is just a mockup, any opinions??????????? http://www.phamworks.com/~jacksoncreation/forum/album_pic.php?pic_id=253 http://www.phamworks.com/~jacksoncreation/forum/album_pic.php?pic_id=251 http://www.phamworks.com/~jacksoncreation/forum/album_pic.php?pic_id=252 http://www.phamworks.com/~jacksoncreation/forum/album_pic.php?pic_id=250 speedstur 07-04-2004, 04:37 PM Awesome body kit great job! GTmike400 07-04-2004, 04:53 PM Like I said earlier, looks great. Also, its good to see someone put effort into good looking, realistic doors. Most people cut them open and glue on the interior panel, glue hinges, and be done with it; well not most, a few of them. Your doors are excellent!!! 675datsun 07-04-2004, 08:32 PM I'm very impressed with the putty work! It looks like you even made new window sills(on body) after cutting the doors out. That's just nutty! I think the front end is very cool. It kind of reminds me a Saleen S7?? Rear wing looks appropriate with rest of the body kit too. I like your style, it's not too wild! SonyMobile 07-05-2004, 12:03 AM :iceslolan VERY NICE! I love the look of that front bumper, I say keep the wing, lookin good, your scratch building skills are great. DJ RaYgU 07-05-2004, 12:04 AM Sweet putty work! The wing is sweet, where did u get it? Bas Carwash 07-05-2004, 11:57 AM Great looking project. Wing is Subaru Impreza isn't it? Looks absolutely awesome. Keep up the good work!!! dread_darven 07-05-2004, 12:41 PM The bodywork you are doing looks to be very promissing, keep it up :) customminatures 07-05-2004, 01:43 PM looks killer! good to see you back in the game! Mean_B16 07-05-2004, 05:44 PM Cool, thanks for all the interest. Yes it is a WRX wing, it flows suprisingly well with the body kit I have to say. it is taking time but I want this one to turn out nice, I am even avoiding building multiple kits right now to keep my focus on this one. mstngcobrasvt98 07-05-2004, 06:37 PM Very sweet build. Love the doors and crazy engine. Mean_B16 07-29-2004, 12:21 AM Well I finally have some more progress photos. this car has been quite time consuming, it seems sometimes that I am barely making progress at all. I can't wait until it comes together enough to start putting the whees on it and the interior in. The body kit is almost done, I may add someything to the front, not sure yet?? maybe a CF diffuser that wraps aroung the entire front?? any suggestions on the body kit at this point will be greatly appreciated!! I am still not sure if this is the wing for this car or not?? any input??? this one is a little blurry but you get the idea. http://www.phamworks.com/~jacksoncreation/forum/album_pic.php?pic_id=328 http://www.phamworks.com/~jacksoncreation/forum/album_pic.php?pic_id=327 http://www.phamworks.com/~jacksoncreation/forum/album_pic.php?pic_id=326 http://www.phamworks.com/~jacksoncreation/forum/album_pic.php?pic_id=325 http://www.phamworks.com/~jacksoncreation/forum/album_pic.php?pic_id=324 http://www.phamworks.com/~jacksoncreation/forum/album_pic.php?pic_id=323 http://www.phamworks.com/~jacksoncreation/forum/album_pic.php?pic_id=322 http://www.phamworks.com/~jacksoncreation/forum/album_pic.php?pic_id=321 http://www.phamworks.com/~jacksoncreation/forum/album_pic.php?pic_id=320 86_SR5 07-29-2004, 12:26 AM kikass Jaymes 07-29-2004, 12:30 AM I'm loving the bodykit :wow: That wing looks fine, but I think a Mustang Cobra R wing would suit the bodykit. primesuspect407 07-29-2004, 12:30 AM It's lookin really good speedstur 07-29-2004, 12:37 AM Awesome bodykit, cool dash too. rx7king 07-29-2004, 01:02 AM everything i see is amazing  Diesel2NR 07-29-2004, 01:37 AM  that body kit is absolutely awesome! _WIDE_LOAD_ 07-29-2004, 04:57 AM that thing looks awesome dude...the whole thing is like mad. nice job on the blower and the kit. keep it up laters, WIDE WeaPoN [X] 07-29-2004, 05:16 AM Sweet! good job on the door jambs (sp?) and the doors. the front isnt my taste but your craftsmanship is amazing. going to be a definate show stopper when completed. keep it up. The wing looks very nice on this car. But maybe you should do something about the attchment to the trunk. The wing just stops. You maybe should connect it to the other side or something. Just my :2cents: Great bodykit, Awesome doors. Can't wait to see this one finished :D :bigthumb: Mean_B16 07-29-2004, 12:54 PM Awesome looking! The wing looks very nice on this car. Can't wait to see this one finished :D :bigthumb: Thanks, the wing is actually just sitting there right now to see how it flows with the body. If it ends up staying on the car I will definetely have to make it blend with the car, probably by laying a strip of styrene on the trunk in between the spoiler mounts, basically like the WRX it came off of. thanks for all the interest in the project. who knows I may even add latches like GTmike400 suggested, i have thought about just not decided yet. Any idea on a final color? Thanks alot, Red was the color I origianally planned but that was before all that crazy body work came to mind. I still may go with red but the door is open for suggestions. I figure as much work as I have left I have time to figure out the color. pre98zetec 07-30-2004, 01:34 PM I think that orange on your S2000 would look great on it. All those little details are worth the trouble, Mike is right, the doors and door jams came out great. the front facia looks sick, engine work is killer as always. two questions: -what did you do to build your supercharger? :dunno:-for the part of the SC that has fins I used a piece from an old hot SC I had in my parts box, the pulley part I actually used the input shaft off a 4x4 differential and the pulley was easy, I just cut the right section out of styrene rod. -why turbo and supercharger? realistically, if that were even possible, the engine mgmt issues would be torturous! -But I like your style- :iceslolan---Realistically it is very possible but you are right, the tuning would be a nightmare. It's a good thing I don't have to start this motor once its done, huh  j/k. I just wanted to go insane on this ITR since it is the 4th one I have built, I figured in my imaginary world this ITR would Reign!!! tonioseven 07-31-2004, 09:17 PM :sunglasse:sunglasse:sunglasse SnakekanS 07-31-2004, 09:32 PM why turbo and supercharger? realistically, if that were even possible, the engine mgmt issues would be torturous! -But I like your style- :iceslolan it IS realistic, because i've actually seen a car with both a supercharger and a turbo you know about turbo's lag right ? well with both of them you dont have it anymore, the supercharger boosts you up as soon as you hit the gas pedal, then when the big turbo spools up, the supercharger stops itself. guys that did this prolly had HARD times setting this up, but they did it. Jurva 08-01-2004, 12:58 PM For turbo and supercharger, I would build it like this. Supercharger wakes up the turbo. Like they are in series. Other way around i think that turbo would push too much boost for the charger. I could draw a picture tomorrow. Jurva 08-04-2004, 07:40 AM Here is a drawing that i made. As you can see, air goes from filter to charger and trough turbo and intercooler to manifold. Normally charger puts something like 8 psi and turbo 28 psi. http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/85123turbo.jpg customminatures 08-05-2004, 09:11 AM this thing is going to be sweet! GTmike400 08-31-2004, 08:12 PM Oooooohhhhh, purty. Looks great, looks like there's going to be a hood latch, eh? GvEman 11-04-2004, 12:16 PM Anny more progress on this beauty? Mean_B16 11-05-2004, 08:29 PM Anny more progress on this beauty? I have but this one on the back burner for the past few weeks because I noticed a little more body work needed than I originally thought. I was so close to painting the car (so I thought) and then just got frustrated and picked up some of my less custom kits to mess with for a while. I will pick up the project again soon but I am moving sp It will be around december maybe when I post more progress, thanks for following the project as I will finish it sometime in the near future I hope. Mean_B16 11-26-2004, 09:31 PM Well I am finally over the hump of modelers block I had for a while and I figured out the front end, now I just have to clean it up and move to the back bumper next since it to was a problem. Sorry the pic of the engine turned out so blurry I will definetely have a better one posted soon . http://www.phamworks.com/~jacksoncreation/forum/album_pic.php?pic_id=564 http://www.phamworks.com/~jacksoncreation/forum/album_pic.php?pic_id=565 http://www.phamworks.com/~jacksoncreation/forum/album_pic.php?pic_id=563 I can't believe all I did was add little wings to the front and it made that much of a difference. GTmike400 11-26-2004, 09:45 PM Sure does look superb! GvEman 11-27-2004, 12:10 AM looks sweet!! Mean_B16 01-02-2006, 09:42 PM Wow, I can't beleive it has been over a year since I have posted progress on this one. Well I guess the new year has been an inspiration to finish some of my back burner projects with this one being at the top of that list. the doors are a bitch to fit right with the hinges in place but I want them to line up when they are closed so I can display it open or closed w/o worry. The rear bumper is a new one since the old one I had just did not work well because the vents were not even on both sides and it was way to much work to fix. Since the basic body kit is in place now all around all I really need to focus on is makeing it all even so I can paint it in the next fews months (I hope). Well here are the pics of it as it stands right now: http://jacksoncreation.designphorum.com/forum/album_pic.php?pic_id=931 http://jacksoncreation.designphorum.com/forum/album_pic.php?pic_id=930 http://jacksoncreation.designphorum.com/forum/album_pic.php?pic_id=929 http://jacksoncreation.designphorum.com/forum/album_pic.php?pic_id=928 http://jacksoncreation.designphorum.com/forum/album_pic.php?pic_id=927 http://jacksoncreation.designphorum.com/forum/album_pic.php?pic_id=926 http://jacksoncreation.designphorum.com/forum/album_pic.php?pic_id=925 http://jacksoncreation.designphorum.com/forum/album_pic.php?pic_id=924 http://jacksoncreation.designphorum.com/forum/album_pic.php?pic_id=923 http://jacksoncreation.designphorum.com/forum/album_pic.php?pic_id=922 GTmike400 01-02-2006, 10:54 PM I've always thought that this is one of your best projects. Digitor 01-02-2006, 11:02 PM It looks awesome! Hopefully we won't have to wait another year to see it finished! Mean_B16 01-03-2006, 12:02 AM It looks awesome! Hopefully we won't have to wait another year to see it finished! Man do I hope your right!!! I've always thought that this is one of your best projects. Thanks alot, that is pretty much why I pulled this one out of hiding. I fell like I added more detail to this one than any other of my builds all though my current CRX build is becoming a close rival IMO. daklunk 01-03-2006, 01:23 AM Wow! Great job with the body work, the RHD conversion is great, and the supercharger looks fantastic! Is the radiator scratchbuilt or just modified? Keep it up, I really want to see this one.... GvEman 01-03-2006, 03:43 AM Nice to see some progress! The new rearbumber looks ok.. but the older one did look bether. Well Nice looking car overal! Keep it up! Horrse 01-03-2006, 10:43 AM I can't believe you put a supercharge and a turbo charger on it looks cool although IMO too much for a 4banger looks cool none the less I was thinkin bout makin a twin turbo hatch with big azz t4 turbos combining cylinders 1 and 4 and 2 and 3, that'll spool quick, prob no real bottem end power though so you gotta add the super charger haha nevermind all this junk I said, cool car I like the bodykit also Mean_B16 01-03-2006, 12:26 PM Nice to see some progress! The new rearbumber looks ok.. but the older one did look bether. Well Nice looking car overal! Keep it up! I am kind off on the same page as you but I wanted to try something Different with this bumper so when it is done hopefully it will look as sweet. I thought of makeing another rear bumper like the first one but just had to try the one I went with (modified from '93 Civic tuner kit). Wow! Great job with the body work, the RHD conversion is great, and the supercharger looks fantastic! Is the radiator scratchbuilt or just modified? It's just modified for the hood latch, the rad support is already molded to the body..... the REX I am building has a scratchbuilt rad support. daklunk 01-03-2006, 01:11 PM Hey, do you still have all the WIP pics somewhere? The only ones that aren't red Xs are on page one and this page... arknok784 01-03-2006, 05:02 PM exactly how did you get the doors to open like that?? Mean_B16 01-04-2006, 02:30 AM Hey, do you still have all the WIP pics somewhere? The only ones that aren't red Xs are on page one and this page...
