I do notice a little change in performance but now my problem is that the service engine soon light will not go off... Is it just because the engine is now doing something that it's not usually supposed to do without the chip??? I don't know much about it can somebody help me out? thanx LjasonL 04-28-2004, 04:57 PM Uhh, do you guys really think it's a good idea to "trick" your engine into thinking the air is cooler than it really is? The extra power comes from advanced timing and other small changes because the car thinks the air isn't as hot as it is. Now just stop and think about that for a second. There must be a REASON it retards timing when it has hot air, don't you think? It's to prevent detonation. Your "extra power" is coming at the cost of slowly tearing your engine apart from the inside out. The problem will get worse as you add more and more mods and it starts running leaner and leaner. That's why you NEVER see a well tuned car running one of those chips. -Jason can't believe people buy those things  BTW guy above me. I'd bet money that the check engine light is on because your car is setting off the knock sensor for the exact reason I mentioned. Seriously, you should take that chip off. Take your time, save your money and do it right the 1st time, and you'll be much better off in the end. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
