Hi. I'm still a bit of a newbie when it comes to cars but anyways here is the story. I drove around with my sister's 99 prizm and I loved teh way it accelerates when I hit the gas, I mean it just flew. But now we want to buy a new civic, and this guy is selling his 2003 civic ex. So I drove it around a bit, at low speeds and all but to tell you teh truth I was not satisfied. The gas pedal felt very heavy. Granted, I didn't want to push it since I was just testing his car, but still. And the EX is supposed to have 127 hp vs. prizm 110 (I think). ANy opinions on this? SHould I just next time hit the gas and see what happens? Come on civic lovers...:)

well i have always had a passion for prizms ever since me and my boy flipped one making a turn to fast haha those cars can take a beating cause it still drove after we flipped it minus some windows..but my civic hasnt flipped yet so thats a plus---i'd have to say get the civic just for that fact haha :evillol:

the civic is the all around better car more reliable and i am sure more comfotable sun roof also right? rims also right ? u will be satisfied with the acceleration i have the same engine its got some spunk

they're both automatic. I myself like and wou;dn't mind driving a stick, it's just that I'll be staying in NYC for the next 4 years and I know stick would be a drag at busy times. DO you guys recommend a performance upgrade then? (I'm just starting to learn about performance parts/ just finished car audio :))

yes if you want upgrades go with civic cause you can purchase upgrade at the local deli i am sure haha much more fun to hook up a civic then a prizm

If you plan on tuning, Civic has more aftermarket parts than Prizm.

Man I have a recommendation. You should drive a porshe or something fast. Prizims are slow slow cars...a civic Ex will beat it...it isnt fast either.

Get the Civic. The '03 model is very slow, but who cares.. they both are. The Prizm will be in the shop all the time because it's a Chevy, and the Honda just plain looks better. If you're concerned about speed why are you test driving either of these cars?

And actually a civic manual coupe 03 is faster than a civic 99-00 or 95-98 coupe EX.

The guy recommends a base Ford Focus over it, if that tells you anything. They all complain about the weak power in them, and how cramped the interior is.

The worst these guys had to say was it had an ugly stereo :rolleyes:, but loved the pickup, interior room, and the looks.

It's really your choice, but I like to go with what I know, and that's that Honda's are reliable and don't feel like "tin cans" as mentioned in the Prizm article.

yup, just like the Starion/Conquest and Eclipse/Talon and the 3000GT/Stealth venture that Mistubishi had with Chrysler. And the Passport/Rodeo with Honda and Isuzu. The motors in the 00+ Kia Sephias were built by Mazda, reason why reliablity has increased since then. There are a number of cars that have some sort of tie with another manufacturer.
